Galloping impossible

So I flee to Tarnberg. I grab a horse. The controls are terrible, but I manage to escape. Then a cut-scene. Arrow in my leg, and no matter what I do. I die.
SHIFT-W and hold SHIFT -> I surely die
SHIFT-W and tabbing shift-shift -> I surely die. There’s no escape.
It seems I cannot gallop. It seems I cannot rebind the key. The small galloping bar never changes.
What if I try sneaking my whole way to talmberg without a horse, no I also swap to same cut-scene and die
there’s no escape I die, I die, I die

Here’s the quit button

it’s Press W + L shift + Press L Shift. It took me 6 deaths to learn this

I did that too. And then I get a 2nd arrow and I die. To the left is Talmberg and 1 sec later its over

Stay on the road

Oh dear :frowning:

Maybe this isn’t going to be your kind of game

Sorry to say this, but if you are having trouble with something as basic as even riding a horse at a gallop (especially on a keyboard), you are gonna have a terrible time, lol.

However, if you were really interested in how to do it properly: press W and hold it, then tap LShift once, tap it a second time and then hold it while also holding W the whole time. Voila, you are galloping and the horse stamina bar (green, bottom left) is going down. When it goes down too much, your horse starts whinnying, you need to let go and slow down to a trot for a bit to regain stamina, then do the same again. If this description doesn’t help you, maybe watch a YT video or two? I don’t think I have ever seen anyone having trouble with this (and I have watched A LOT of people play this game).

Yup i too was punished several times before i got it … but wow 160+ hours in and now I’m DEFINITELY GETTING IT

Fantastic game

I did exactly as you said, but on my PC the green bar does NOT go down. And you may say, it does on your PC, not on mine. While I love the setting, in many ways I love the game. But not being able to make it Talmberg is blocking.
Maybe if I can get in God mode or maybe I should get to debug screen and finish the quest in that way then. This is terrible.

The green bar will go down once you go at a gallop. When it doesn’t go down, it means your horse is not galloping (i.e. you are doing something wrong on your end), simple as that. You are insinuating that this is the game’s fault or a bug. It simply is not and I haven’t yet seen anybody not being able to do this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUSZnz3nUo4&t=21m50s watch for example here, how galloping should look.

I would guess you didn’t properly read the horse-riding tutorial. Pause the video at 17:42 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUSZnz3nUo4&t=17m42s and properly READ the instructions. From what you are saying, you are going at a canter at the fastest and that just won’t do in this part of the game.

Thanks Kolomnitcki, I already rebound it to R, which is a lot better then Shift, but the problem remains, you cannot rebind the Gallop, not the Sprint button.

Yes I properly read it all. And again, and again. Sprinting works. Canting works. Gallop doesn’t. Also I cannot go on foot the whole end. I’m also not allowed to go a clever different way, then I get stuck in a hidden wall.

@Ash In Sips video there’s no way I can get past 23:17.

Git good son

From what you are writing, it seems to me that you are holding the W key and then press and hold the sprint button, therefore resulting in a canter, not gallop. As I wrote, you need to hold W, press sprint button once (tap it), then press it (tap) again and keep holding it. And no, you can’t “make it” past a certain point here (or walk or sneak or whatever), because the beginning of the game is very linear and requires you to gallop with your horse to Talmberg.

I mean, I am pretty sure that the mistake is somewhere on your part, but if you want, I could maybe send you an autosave after the chase so that you can continue with the game, if you are on PC?

thanks, such a save game would help a lot. Ehm, then again, how can I load it ?

A) Download the Autosave via this link https://ulozto.net/!mnerzl0whlse/autosave390-whs
B) Open the following folder in your computer (assuming you are on Windows, I attach screenshots, I have Win 7 64 bit, so it may differ a bit for you, plus my Windows are not in English):

Start button -> YourPCProfileAccountName (mine is “Sightless”, as seen below) -> Save Games (“Uložené Hry” in my screenshot) -> kingdomcome -> saves -> playline0 (theoretically can be called “playline 1” or other on your computer, whatever you have here).

C) Copy the downloaded file into the aforementioned folder.

D) Launch the game -> Load Game

E) Now you should see the following save file: “RUN!” Talmberg, 0.5 h, 04/03/2018, 20:46, load it.

F) Check whether it kept your graphics, controls, etc. settings, adjust if necessary.

G) Theoretically, there could be a problem with Steam Cloud saves, that somehow Steam will erase the save file before you can load it, then you will need to temporarily turn off Steam cloud saving for this game. Also, the game may get fussy about the number of the autosave (because it is such a high number - 390, I have a lot of saves), after you make your own save or your game makes another autosave, just delete it from the save files folder.

H) Let me know if it worked.

On PC you save it at C:\Users[name]\Saved Games\kingdomcome
So that part is easy

In Ash’ last post, yes I see your save game, but it also says “This savegame requires DLC: Treasures of the Past”

Oh crap, I have the pre-order DLC activated, right, that’s a problem. I will disable the DLC and upload a new one.

Okay, here it is: https://ulozto.net/!4SFpzUER5avu/autosave395-whs hopefully now it’s working.
