Game crashing at startup

Running Windows 8.1, new system build with latest drivers as of today. Radeon r9 280x & i7 processor with 32gb of RAM. When launching the game I get the first few splash screens, then the screen wtih the controls/mapping listed and the game crashes to desktop. Also tried launching as admin with no success. All of my other games are playing fine - Witcher 3, Rainbow 6, Just Cause 3… etc. Details below - thanks for taking a look.

Please try to deinstall the latest Crimson driver (AMD) and install an (older) Catalyst driver. Looks like there is a bug…

Thanks much! I uninstalled the latest Crimson AMD drivers and installed the older Catalyst drivers from July. This did the trick - thank you for the recommendation. I am happy to say I am currently looking over beautiful fields in-game!

Would be good for everyone if their new drivers (AMD) work without crash.

Well, @unwissend did send an error feedback form and we reached out as well, however at the moment we still have no new information on the issue to share with you guys .

Everybody with an AMD GPU and the Crimson Radeon GPU driver who has the game crash at startup problem, please be so kind and use the following Link to submit an Issue Reporting Form to AMD. I did this 11 days ago, but the more the better. As “problem numbers” raise so is the priority raising at AMD to solve this issue. Thank you very much for your help in advance.

At my PC I have the be known problem to get a crash wenn I start the game always.
I didn`t tried an older driver than Crimson so it could be just a driver problem.
But today I want to started the game with my notebook with an GTX 760M and the driver: 355.60 which was definitly able to start…but not now. Same Error, same report “Game crashed” =(
EDIT: With the new 359.06 its stable =))

I Have the same issue, but i don’t want to be running old ass drivers.

I am getting the same crash with Crimson 15.12 and 16.1 Hotfix drivers.
Seems like the only thing that works for now is downgrading the drivers.

how to bypass the crash until a fix comes.

here is how:

There is a way you can start the game. You can put into the system.cfg or the autoexec.cfg in kingdom come the term “e_svoTI_Active=-1” or “e_svoTI_GsmShiftBack=0"
But the game will crash in some place anyway. Especially if you can see water. And that is the problem.”

Never add the crash near water but i’m not sure if that will be true for everyone.
