Game Freezes When I kill a Chicken

I’ve encountered a bug where every time I kill a chicken, the game freezes. I have to sign out of windows 10 because I can’t interact with the task manager to force close it.

I’m sure the game freezes on other things as well, I just haven’t encountered them.

I need help.

AMD RYZEN 5 2600X,
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX ram (32gb total),
MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X,
some kind of brandname cpu cooler (getting liquid cooling tuesday - Corsair Hydro Series, H150i),
CORSAIR RMx Series RM850x,
MSI X470 GAMING PRO AM4 AMD X470,
SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series 2.5" 500GB,
samsung 970 500gb,
Riotoro CR1288 case

any mods in play?

Remove that virus “windows”, whatever is left over is on devs, or likely, mods.

Edit: a corrupted file (eg chikken death sound) mayhaps making windows lose focus…?
Remove all ‘bleeding edge’ overclocks and try again…
(First few things I’d check)

I’ve tried it with and without overclocking. I don’t use any mods.
I’ve installed and reinstalled. started a new game.

Can you show us which chicken you kill(causing the freezes)?

Some chicks are bugged. WH has fixed many of the “bad” chicks causing the problem.
Maybe there are some more.

The chickens at the beginning of the game, near the guy who owes the father money.

At the end of the intro when you wake up in the bakers house and he expects to be paid back for mending your wounds. The chickens across the way, near the vendor and skins guy, also crash.

I sent a bug report in. See what happens.

I never had a problem when I killed a chicken. Are you running other programs in the background?

Lol, that actually happened to me. Thought it was just an intermittent thing.

About 30 hours in, I went to the bathhouse at night and killed at the bathmaidens. My blood lust left unsated, I began slaughtering the chickens too. After I kill between 2 and 8 the game freezes and I have to force close. I tested three times.

I do have the save anywhere mod, and the target while shooting bows mods added.

Not sure why you dislike bathing so much, but I would suggest check the mods being updated to 1.6.2.

they are not and those mods can and will mess up the game now. if not stated to be updated for 1.6.2 and more than likely mess up the ashes DLC as it seems most/all mods do that now.

mods now have to be checked to see if they still work or cause problems with the latest patch and DLC as most have not been updated for many months and should be considered orphans.
It will stay this way until late 2019 when mod support is supposed to be available and mebbe the authors will come back.
