Lockpicking is EXTREMELY easy. I had trouble as well until I found videos of people lockpicking successfully. Do NOT go slow and careful. Find the golden spot and then twist everything as fast as you can. Lockpicks do not get damaged by your mistakes, but by how long you take to pick the lock. The first couple will be hard, but once you get it down you will be able to open any lock at your skill level. It is stupidly easy. Dont worry about keeping the gold spot golden the entire time - it just has to be close enough. Promise. Twist that sh*t as fast as you can.
I’m on PS4 as well, with a worn controller. It’s difficult at first. Like pretty much everything in this game. There are a number of Very Easy locks in Rattay. Practice on those. Henrys skill will get better and you’ll get a feel for it. Also most of the locks north of you in Ledechko are Very Easy, also. Watch out for dogs. Bring meat, Aesops (I think?) potions, or arrows. Merry tumbler tussling to you.
Truthfully, it should be a practicable lock. But the xp earned should be low, because picking the same lock over and over wouldn’t train you to do more advanced locks no matter how many times you’ve done it. Maybe they should add a new mini game for each level of difficulty.
Having said that, you do not have to lock pick to advance the game. There are only a few instances in this game that you have to do something a certain way.
Choke out the owner of the chest and take their key
You do not need to pick locks to finish the game or have a good time in the game.

I can’t do the locking picking tbh not at all my thumbs just don’t like the movement, but hey you can just knock folks out and take there keys and clothes and anything else for that matter where there’s will there’s a way!

I got the best sword in the game without picking a lock and the second best I’m now working on number 3 queen Sheba’s need to get rattay blacksmiths keys to get it but I’ll knock him out or kill him!

Your right and you miss alot with it being broken on console but i like this enough i will prob finish current play and once fixed go though again

I’m thinking about starting over also. Kind of sucks if you can’t pick locks there are quests you just can’t do. ie Restless spirit is just one example.
Its like stealth im sure im much lower than i would be if any point trying to break in for chests
Playing on console and have had little problem picking locks. Stop crying over spilled milk, there are quest breaking bugs that aren’t being fixed because you babies can’t stop crying about lock picking being “impossible” when it is entirely on your end. If it was really as hard as you say then NOBODY would be able to do it. As they like to say these days

Nearly finished game and have not picked 1 lock. If you need money go kill a few bandits and sell their gear. I was down to zero money, killed 3 bandits got about 2000 in a few minutes.

You can take the key from a guy that has the key. Libraian i think. I failed the quest, because i went through the monastery and unlocked everything and looted everything before i went for the main quest. Its a sandbox game with multiple ways of doing almost everything
