Gathering, it could be better

I know its alpha and thats cool. I just hope that the plants I can pick up will differ from the non-intractable foliage. I found my self non-stop in this alpha release, just scanning the ground and fields left and right till a tool-tip popped up. This leads to a loss of immersion for me. In my opinion the plants and other things to come, should all be rendered in 3D leaving the non-intractable foliage as 2D sprites. DO NOT PUT A GLOW around the plants, as that would not be realistic, but having them stand out some what would make it less of a hassle and just more enjoyable.

Love the alpha’s so far though  cant wait for release… and to probably die alot befor i get the hang of it xD haha

I’d like to be able to pick up almost every plant.
and yes, maybe the look of the plants that can be picked up could be a little different (not glowing).
I also would like some change for the tooltip. Maybe get rid of it or make it in the upper right corner or the symbol changes when you can pick something up. That way we would have to recognize the plants by its appereance not by “nettle” or “thistle”

the nettles are 3d objects, the thistle model isn’t even implemented yet. the nettles are very easy to spot, so i’m afraid the issue is on your end. you wouldn’t want them to dumb it down with glow right? so why do you want them to change the other plants to a lower quality just so you can spot the pickable herbs? you argued against yourself.

I think the point the OP was trying to make was all plants that are pick able should have a 3D model instead of a flat texture that blends into the grass and other non pick able foliage.

The thistle needs a new model its very hard to see against the pink flowered clover. I can Identity allot of species in this game and thistle isn’t hard unless its buried in a see of pink clover, a model V.S. texture would greatly fix this without “Dumbing it Down”

Upon further review im not even sure the nettle is a model it has very broad leaves giving it an appearance of more dimension (I could be wrong on this).

the thistle is invisible. it doesn’t have a model

Its clearly visible.
