I Love the idea. Hope it’s implemented.
I’m not against stats like that since they are hidden away in the menus and have no effect on gameplay. I’m very against having ‘+3XP’ markers floating off every enemy you kill and equally against ‘achievement progress markers’ which pop up every time you kill a rabbit saying you need to kill 50 more to get the achievement. But simple stats like how far you’ve walked can be quite interesting and are never thrown in your face or required to be thought about for you to play the game to it’s full.
Besides… I’d find looking at the menu in the first place rather immersion breaking… and only really load it up when I’m quitting the game anyway.

Bioshock infinite was extremely guilty of the achievements popups. All the time the game said “Well done, you did a thing! Do it again and other things!” Especially since the game did its best to draw you in, these popups were just killing me (that’s why I turned them off obviously, still… Who thought that’s a good idea)
I like this concept. And it really wouldn’t be any harder to do…all you’d need is to pay a professional to appraise the quality of your weapon/armor/etc. and then make an appraise perk/technique/skill or something of the like available to the player to train.
The stats would only show up after you’ve appraised the item.
