Got Caught several times for following the damn rules in the monastery! SO STUPID!

I had no problem in the monastery. Everything worked fine.

Nov. 2018 [ I deleted two of my complaints here about presumed bad scripts, when in reality I had been spotted by some monks (not Circators) who evidently denounced me. The mass Rules script is still a bit too tight, but can be managed.]

EDIT: nevermind, I was seen out of my place in the kitchen and dining hall by many monks… I complained here because the Circators would intercept me at mass, so I thought something was wrong with the rules or scripts around the mass. I used a previous saved game in which I had not yet been seen by other monks out of place. True story, I almost screwed-up again by leaving the mass a second too early since I was seeing everyone else leaving (!!!), but I fortunately succeeded a Speech check.

TIP : during the day, suffer and play it safe (with a few exceptions possibly if you are very sneaky for real), and move out only when the quest notification says so! Do your shaddy actions when the monks are asleep and the Circators are down below…

I have to complain that the script for the rules can cause needless days in jail and I would have raged-quit at least a real day if I was not using a mod to Save my progress.

If I was not using many Saves, with a mod, I would “hate you” :stuck_out_tongue: . I love the game still and nominated it Game of the year (2018) on Steam. though I am whining here about small aspects that can be fixed, the Monastery infiltration was memorable, really original, realistic, and I am all around flabberghasted that I made it through!

I ignored the behaviour of the other monks and just went by the clock. there’s a double standard in time mgmt that seems somewhat inexplicable given that pocket watches aren’t said to have been invented until later.

On my second game walkthrough, I breaked into the monastery as soon as my locpicking was at level 10 (before the monastery quest). To get in just take some sneak&lockpick potions and jump down on the roof from the top of the construcion site (I’m having the reduce falling dmg perk). Then I’ve killed most of the sleeping monks, including my target, stole the monastery keys from the abbot and walked away.

In my next game I will probably just kill both “cop” monks and store them in the basement. Then I could walk freely.

PS
Laughed my back off when saw item description of the golden cross.

Yeah this mission would have gotten the better of me had there not been multiple ways to do it. Something I genuinely enjoy and appreciate about the game.

From what I understand about this company warhorse is that this is their first game that they developed. And they also didnt have a massive budget for this type of game. An in depth open world rpg., that is compared to developers like Bethesda and blizzard and the like. So if this is what their maiden venture looks like I truly cant wait until their next one. (Fingers crossed theres to be a sequel or at least another game in the same open world rpg format. Also they have been acquired by another company. Hopefully a much bigger and well funded company. Yes theres a lot of bugs and a bit of polishing is needed but I would still reccomend this game even though I probably put in 500+hrs and are prob only 3/4 done with it and still an add or two to go, it was worth it.

(Minor spoilage but nothing major)
I read when u start the quest and enter the monastery you put everything even quest items in the chest. I still had my quest items. Also know u cant use horse inv. While inside. Before I started this quest I hid a few items inside the monestary in a chest but I forgot to do it again because i had to reload. The game but cant hurt give it a shot and dont forget to open the connecting rooms between the monastery and overseers office. Dont go in with a bounty or being wanted. Theres a bug regarding getting approached by bro john and boyfriend. Monastary guards in charge of dicipline and security for inside. I forget what their called something like curators but spelled diff. Regarding the purpose of this quest finding Prius or Peeyou. Whatever his name is. are given new names upon entry so get your sleuth on. Good luck. Sorry if I forgot anything. Oh theres an alchemy table inside not all plant types but you’ll be ok. . And dont drop food u find inside its currency. Read abbotts book for entertainment and info. In room next to his and priors room. Or between them rather. On a stand. Theres a set of keys in a room or two. The last one past the kitchen. behind the kitchen on a shelf as an item you have to pick up not take out of container. It’s on a top shelf. When u do library task. It helps tremendously to close to the screen you are.U can sneak outside so it’s not the end of the world not having your stuff I made it to the inn and back no prob. Also I suggest that u start the monastery in the afternoon so by the time orientation is over u can head to the cellar and drink with the disciplinary team to get on their good side. If u find a certain book that’s forbidden pick it up and hold onto it for a certain quest. It’s the necronomicon.for the alchemist related quest it’s the necro 1 not 2.

Don’t make this quest harder than it has to be. Go in with full armor and weapon of choice and start killing. Be ready for the guards that come. Isolate them and kill them one by one. Finding pious is probably the hardest part but run around in a frenzy of death eventually you will run into him. Then when all is said and done take it easy and pick some locks. There’s no better way to level lockpicking.

Yeah, I fucking hate the monastery, so many issues. I played along with it for a few hours, exploring the minigames and sidequests there, talking to everyone. But after seemingly following the rules and still getting harassed by the circators, I just said fuck it, everyone dies. That way I would surely kill Pious, LOL. I mostly just ran around during the day methodically stalking the monks until they were alone, then hiding their bodies, and taking out any nearby NPCs who might discover a body. With a stealth lvl of 20 and wearing a monk robe, it wasnt hard to get away with. Before you start the quest where you have to enter the monastery, sneak into it via the roof entrance and plant a dagger/lockpicks into a chest you can easily access later. They will still be there when you return. I hadnt planned to use them but planted them anyway as a backup plan.

I saved Pious (Antonious) for last, I already had a pretty good idea of who he was, after breaking into the Prior’s office. But as soon as you kill him guards will magically spawn in to chase you.

Noobs :joy:

I like to take my time with that mission… Good for level up Speech

Yeah, it is the worst quest in the game.

Easiest way for me was to put all my stuff into my housing chest back in Rattay (a little tedious of a walk, I’m aware, but after I had all my shit get stolen by the game I said, ‘‘fuck you,’’ reloaded the previous save and went to the monastery buck-ass naked. This helped with the next part) While in the monastery, sleep until like 3AM, grab the dagger, and hide in the chapel until the Prior walks in. Assassinate him, steal his keys, leave out the side door and walk to Rattay, then return and kill Pious in glorious full plate.

In short, fuck this quest.

Also if your bow is high enough, you can snipe Pious from the rooftop and avoid the whole quest entirely. Much easier that way. While yes, I can see the quest has its merits (Warhorse did their research to be as accurate as possible) I always play with the same philosophy I have in real life; ‘‘If it can’t be solved with violence, it’s not worth bothering yourself with’’
