Guards and thieving. Minor spoiler

Anyone else having trouble with guards harrassing them? Earlier in the game I failed at robbing the executioner, so naturally when he came swinging at me with his fists I chopped him to bits and stole all his stuff. No witnesses but the dogs and chickens. I sold all the stolen goods and when I got to town the guards ask to search me. No mention of the murder just to search. I let them and go on my way. Now every time I go-to town they ask to search and it’s very annoying because I can’t steal now because they will just search me. Also the guards have no clue about the murder but my reputation with the commoners is -100. How they magically knew about this I have no clue. Other then that I’ve been having so much fun with this game!

I’m sorry you’re experiencing issues, but I shit myself laughing at that quote.

From what people are saying crime has issues.
When I murder people on the roads and kill cows in pastures no one seems to know I did it though. People will recognize in local cities that it is stolen goods, however if you travel far enough or to mills you’ll be able to sell it there.

Same here… No witnesses, yet I am a suspect whom the guards search Everytime. Doesn’t make sense…and to counter the other commenter’s answer: in my case I only took the ring and the money…yet, I am a suspect …SOMEHOW.
Unless of course the game has a coin tracking serial number which ppl in the game know of and will notice it when I use it :stuck_out_tongue:

Well I’ll be patient in hopes that a lot of these issues get patched.

Having the exact same problem, constant searches and no one seen me stealing anything ever. Hope this gets fixed

Same here. This is what worked for me.

I was on -100 rep with the Rattay townsfolk after punching the executioner in the face (although I didn’t notice until I was well past that point). What worked for me was getting arrested for a crime (you may have to commit another one to get on the guards radar). I then went to jail for 10 days. When I got out my rep with the guards and townsfolk was +20. Not perfect but at least i can interact with them again.

You can use a silly gimmick once you get a horse. Steal something, immediately open Inventory and move the stolen goods to your horse. I have been searched while standing next to my horse which was loaded with stolen stuff and the guards let me go because I had nothing stolen actually on me. Because you can teleport items to your horse without needing to be anywhere near it, this is an absolute exploit and your choice as to whether you want to use it.

But it would be really silly to be able to steal shields and halberds and walk straight past guards, not to mention be able to carry several suits of armour and still be able to walk.

So yes, the guards are psychic and Henry is able to carry 300 kg of stuff and still mount a horse while having 10 Strength rating. That’s RPGs for you.

p.s. It would be a lot better if the devs made it so that each stolen item’s weight adds to your conspicuousness, which can be offset by your charisma. If you are dressed as a rich noble and have a huge sack of plate armour over your shoulder, yes you would stand out, but they should also be afraid of harassing a rich man. Subtle things like this are what make RPGs fun, but I do not believe these factor into the guards’ decisions to search you based on their psychic powers and network of all-seeing informant chickens.

Well, if im right they found Something with you the First time? So they are now suspecting you every Time they See you for your criminal record. Seems legit to me :stuck_out_tongue:

I actually think it’s a feature in the game, guards perform random searches, kinda keeps ya on your toes about having stolen stuff.
