Happy Easter Everyone!

Greetings my little Sheepies and Chicks!

Warhorse Studios wishes you all Happy Easter! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with tons of sweets and good food!

Luboooš is already takning care of the Easter decorations:

But I am very curious about how do you celebrate the Easter holiday? Which tradition, food or action is typically for your Region? Tell me!

In Germany it’s searching hidden eggs (by the Easter Bunny aka your parents) in the garden or house… but the more “special” tradition is definitely in Czech Republic….

Oh you don’t know what I am talking about? Maybe check her description?

Who wants now to move to Czech Republic for the next Easter?!

Cheerio!

Is there something special for medieval England? @Frogbit

Oh yeah, I always have to laugh when I see reactions of foreigners to Czech Easter traditions. It’s always like “holy shit, you barbarians, you beat women, you opress them” and so on, while in fact it’s the opposite. The whole symbolism behind it is to keep women healthy and young, as it is old pagan tradition celebrating fertility, i. e. by visiting them and “whiping” them you show that you care about them. Some girls might actually even get mad at you if you don’t visit them.

As you can imagine, Easter was a huge festival over here in the Medieval (and earlier). The household accounts for Edward I (1238 - 1307) show that in the year of 1290 he paid the sum of 18 pence to have someone decorate 450 eggs with gold leaf for distribution amongst his courtiers.
