Hardcore Gameplay Mechanic Additions

  1. Total weapon and armor durability decreases when repaired. In real life repairing a weapon or armor will either whittle away the blade or leave behind cracks in the armor whether microscopic or large and visible that can’t be fixed or replaced without reforging a brand new piece of equipment. A good example of this system is the game Escape from Tarkov. This mechanic could introduce a passive mechanic that will make you pick and choose which armor or weapon could be best for certain situations. It would keep players from using those unique items which can’t be replaced easily or at all. It would also make it so using weapons and armor that people would simply skip now becomes a viable option.

  2. When you run into an impenetrable bush or fence the horse should collapse and you would get thrown forward. Obviously, everyone runs into bushes and fences and whatever else and when that happens the horse just continues sprinting but without moving forward. This addition would keep players from galloping everywhere all the time and increase immersion.

  3. This is the most obvious in my opinion. People of 15th century Bohemia must have had a lot of guts to not dodge horses and just take the full brunt of a warhorse in full gallop. When you hit someone they should ragdoll and die instantly with all their limbs fully broken (a mechanic already implemented). Also, why don’t people move to the side of the road when a super loud galloping horse comes along. Either that or make it a crime to do anything but walk with a horse in towns. Horses should cause serious amounts of damage and even receive considerable amounts of damage in return for running into things and people.

  4. Jogging consumes stamina. Currently, the mechanic is that people sprint until they reach running speed and then while holding sprint at this running speed you don’t regain stamina. Which is weird because running normally doesn’t use stamina. The natural fix for this phenomenon would be to have normal running decrease stamina at maybe 1/3rd the rate of sprinting. In real life jogging takes effort and no one can run without losing stamina especially in full plate armor with gambeson and mail, etc. Unfortunately, this will make fights very hard.

  5. Weight Capacity. Henry can hold an infinite amount of weight and the horse doesn’t care how much Henry weighs. However, there is already a weight meter that gets full. This meter should dictate how much weight the limit is. Currently, once that meter gets full you can keep going and hold anything you pick up. It should be once that once the meter gets full then you cannot hold anymore weight and must pick and choose what you carry on you to sell. Obviously, this will curtail the massive amounts of money people can get at any point in the game and create a natural progression for making money based on character strength.
