Hardcore perks

The Somnambulant negative perk is priceless. Ever wondered what it’s like to go to sleep in your bed and wake up back in Skalitz? For a good half an hour, Henry was thinking that maybe it was all just a dream. Or maybe this was a dream and if he’d gone to sleep again, he’d wake up back in civilization. I wholeheartedly recommend this perk to anyone who’s already well familiar with the game. The thrill of looking around trying to recognise something so you’d know where you’ve woken up this time. (By the way, I have noticed that this perk seems to have a much higher probability of being activated when Henry is waking up before dawn. Which makes things so much more interesting because that’s usually when you have some concrete plans for the day and need an early start.)

Now that I’m playing will all negative perks, I’d say my two least favourite are nightmare (because it makes Henry encumbered each morning) and the one that reduces the experience you get. Now that is proper hardcore.

I agree. It really creates a challenge when you wake up in the middle of a forest and have no clue where you are.

You are a brave soul, I will wait to play with all the negative perks, maybe on my next playthrough.

I should probably add the Consumption perk to my list of least favourite ones. It makes Henry extremely vulnerable to axes and maces. It makes the whole thing a LOT more hardcore but now that I’m playing a “relaxed” hardcore, I didn’t choose it. It didn’t realize how much difference this perk made until I started the new playline and realized I could take on more than one opponent at a time again and still survive. The Consumption perk makes dividing opponents and riposting them to death the only viable strategy. That is a lot of fun too, but my new hardcore Henry thinks he should be cut some slack.
