Would that work? Would a character get away with it? Most importantly, would it stop the lag?
Obviously, I’d test this myself, but I just had the idea and am away from my console.
If your reputation is high enough you can just pick them up no questions asked. The problem is you cant store them so you either have to bring them to a trader one by one or just drop them again. I prefer the latter.

Ahhh, yep I saw what you mean when I tried it. It no longer says “Steal” when I look at them to pick up, but they don’t go to my inventory, and they aren’t in the list of things I can sell to merchants. I haven’t tried picking one up and travelling all the way to the mill (I fence to Pachek a lot), so maybe I still will.
It’s just dumb that they can’t remove all of them at once. 
yes i have looted them b4 1.4 came out, you have to have spearmans delight. so u can actualy pick them up and put them in your inventory. i collected 62 halberds in rattay alone lol … lets say theres 10 on the ground in front of a guard. 1/10 will say “steal”. 9/10 will let u just “pick up” or at least thats how it went for me. that 1/10 that says steal is the very last one he dropped on the ground. if you get spearmans delight youll also be able to use all of the pole arms in the game and buy from black smiths and sell them to who ever . they were also worth between 500-600 gold before 1.4 not sure if there still worth that much anymore.
o and btw i dont really think it did anything to make a noticeable difference for me that is . i didnt lag before i looted them and i didnt lag after. but in theory it should help not having to render 62 pole arms i found everywhere rattay.

Awesome advice! Thank you for this. I haven’t seen this perk yet, though (I actually haven’t looked through all the perks). Can you tell me which section it’s in? Also, did picking up all the dropped items fix the really bad jerking and stuttering?
Haha! Just saw this edit, and yeah I’m really hoping it helps the bad lag. I’m on XBOX One (not X), so I’m hoping cleaning up some of that will decrease rendering demands on the console. 
im sorry spearmans delight is a mod i got from nexus. and no i dont think picking up all the pole arms will fix that at all. its a known issue across all consoles even pc. i had it a tiny bit no where near as bad as others. but the 1.4 did fix it for me. its supposed to be fixed for you in this new 1.4 patch. i also seen alot of people say it was fixed for them and some who said it wasent fixed for them.

im gunna place a bet and say this week. once sony and Microsoft are done with there own testing. … at least you dont have to Ginny pig it like us pc players. i was all pumped after waiting an hour for that big patch to down load. i wanted to change my hair and beard so bad , and wouldnt ya know it, it was broken upon release lol it was fixed the next day lol but at least u wont have to experience the freeze and have to restart ur game and lose a save like i did

You don’t have to steal them here’s a tip just keep kicking the ones that are at the edge of the castle and soon as you kick them outside of the castle it becomes a pickup versus a steal

But as of right now I f****** hate halberds and I wish they would just disappear
As much as I hated the freezing there’s nothing more I hate worse than the stuttering in the stuttering came with the halbard drop bowl drop broom drop npcs just went sorry

If you drop items in a town or village the npc will pick them up
