I have lots of freedom after the main quest and lots of money after the side-quests, but nothing meaningful to do with either of these things. It’s essentially ‘finished’. It has already been argued that houses, spouses and freedom to live life the way you want (different professions) are not in the game for good reasons, which I might (might?) understand. But that leaves us with a great deal of not much to do between now and the DLC/sequel.
I know there’s nothing currently in game that can solve this, and it will be some time before modders start releasing serious game-changing/adding content. But I fear even this won’t do: they can hardly bring in Tom McKay and the other actors to help them make dialogue for their mods, which I think is essential for them to feel part of this game. Doesn’t this limit the sort of content we’ll see? There isn’t much chance of Skyrim-like mods with unlimited potential; KCD mods will surely have to work in the tight framework the game itself has constructed.
I’m essentially looking for reasons to maintain hope. I spent £40 on this game and I don’t regret it much, but 50 hours and 45% achievements in (so you know that I haven’t just spammed the main quest and done nothing else, I’ve tried) and I’m concerned I’ve wrung KCD dry. I don’t want this to be true, as I loved the experience so much until I finished it. If I have to be patient, it’d help to know that there’s something to wait for. Is it really over until the sequel? What now?
