So not sure if this is a bug. But I’m failing speech checks I should be passing as my numbers are higher. Or I’m passing them but still getting negative results. My reputation drops for no reason. Guards are searching me and finding stolen stuff when nothing is stolen. And even if I have had stolen stuff how do they even know.
Regarding the speech checks:
If I am correct it is not sure that you will succeed because you have higher number. You also need to chose correct possibility based on the conversation so far. Other elements may also be important (like dirt, blood, etc…)
For example: I had this conversation with lots of possibilities based on speech. I had higher number but succeed in 66-75%.

I have bonus when talking to peasants and everything was clean so for the check I was going for should have worked. I think that’s how it works sure I heard it from something looking at how they lay it out that’s how it should work anyway.
I have tested this quite a lot and WHAT YOU SAY is actually equally as important as how high your numbers in each stat / attribute are (having 10 speech against the opponent’s 9 is more than likely not gonna be enough if your demands are something outrageous). There are also other factors that come into play, like reputation, how dirty / bloody you are etc. (which are not reflected in the speech / charisma / intimidation stats AFAIK - well, they are, to an extent, in the case of dirt and its effect on charisma) and also WHO the other person is.
I repeatedly tried this with guards. In the screenshot below, you can see that both my Charisma (17 vs. 16) and Intimidation (17 vs. 10) are higher than the guards’, however I failed repeatedly both skill checks. When we are talking about crime, you also have to take reputation and the severity of the crime into question - i.e. if you murder 5 people, the guard is much less likely to let you impress him (Charisma) or even intimidate him. Also, the fact that he is a guard, meaning a tough guy, you really need your intimidation stat to be through the roof if you want it to succeed, as guards are not easily intimidated. And if your reputation is really terrible like -100, even that may not be enough as the people in that town hate you and guards won’t shy away from a fight no matter what.

Unfortunately, this is not a bug. That’s just how the game is.
That includes the times where “succeeding” in a check doesn’t seem like an actual success at all.
That’s kind of shit. The problem is I pass a speech check someone tries to kill me so I kill him and my reputation dropped.
