Head Bobbing Motion Sickness

greetings,

I have a very niche issue where im getting motion sickness from the character movement - it happens from time to time with first person based games (its a gamble) - however, there are usually a few thing you can do to remedy this.

I see that there are various console commands which allow you to change the FOV above 75 which is great, however, I was wondering if there is a setting where I can turn the head bobbing off?, I understand its a feature that is there for the realism aspect, but to be honest its quite extreme & makes me feel nauseous after about 30mins of play.

any tips would be great

Cheers

Kickstarter backer so got two licenses, second one was for the wife but completely wasted as her motion sickness is really bad with this, very janky animations combined with all the headbobbing/swaying, very disappointed :frowning:

Someone on Steam posted:

Open console (key on the left next to 1) and type in these two lines
cl_bob 0
cl_headbob 0

But someone already replied this doesn’t work? :frowning:

Many thanks for the tip Grimbarian - However, it didn’t seem to make too much difference. the FOV running at around 100 seems to help a bit. However, i’ve noticed that even just standing still, your character bobs around a bit (i guess this is him breathing). I dont mind it being there as 95% of people wont be affected by the motion, but unfortunately the rest of us are unable to play for long stints (think i did 20mins yesterday).

cheers

I am in the same boat as you, head bobbing in games has always messed with me and this one is really bad. Though unlike you, I wish I could make it 20 minutes per time. I walked from Henry’s father in the starting area to the drunk guy and was at my limit.

My wife was able to play for 90-120 minutes last night which was a great improvement!

Not sure if 1.22 includes any tweaks to headbobbing but what I also did was add the commands to her game:

cl_bob 0
cl_headbob 0
(I know it seems they don’t work but something helped this time so maybe they do subtly work?)

I also added this mod:

Ok, ill give it a try - thanks

(Also, Has your wife ever tried Ginger? you can get it in pill format, they really helped me get through Mass Effect 2/3)

I need this feature as well.

I don’t understand why the head bobbing is so bad. I mean when you walk around in real life does it seem like you head bob this bad? It sure as hell doesn’t seem like it.

Thanks I told her that :slight_smile: She often has fresh ginger available to make ginger tea with honey to help with sore throats :slight_smile:

There’s a mod to help with it: https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/67?tab=description

I actually had to lay down last night I became so nauseous due you head bob. It’s way too extreme. Even when standing still or going grill sitting to standing your head waves back and forth like you’re at sea

head bob should be an option. One of the first mods I’ll get next will be a head bob mod, to tone it down or remove it. I’m not prone to motion sickness but after 4 hours of play I did feel nauseous myself, and I thin it’s the head bob.

Go to your game install folder and navigate to the Data foler.
Open Scripts.pak in WinRAR.

In WinRAR, Navigate to:
Scripts/Entities/Other/CameraShake.lua
Double click this file from within WinRAR.
If asked what to open with, choose notepad.

Make the following changes
fRadius = 0.0,
fStrength = 0.0,
fDuration = 0.0,
fFrequency = 0.0
Hit save, change save as type to all files and leave the filename the same (CameraShake.lua).
WinRAR will ask if you want to save the changes to the current archive, choose yes.

Nice - will give it a try this evening

cheers

I’m playing on PS4 and this is the first game that makes me dizzy, the worse is when Henry stands still he sway back and forth, like he is drunk and i can’t play this game because of that and the lockpicking and the battle system, which both is way too hard.

It makes me sad, because i really liked this game, the story is great, you can complete a mission in different ways, like the first mission in Skalitz, when we need to get the stuff from Kunesh, it’s at least 4 ways to complete that mission.

I deleted this game after couple days :flushed:, but i will follow it, to see if some of the issues i have with this game will be tweaked in the future :grinning:.

In beta I couldn’t play the game for more than 30 minutes without getting sick. I requested the ability to turn off headbob but we never received that (as an actual option). However, I don’t get sick in the game release version. What I did was this. I turned off motion blur and I set fov to max. Supposedly wider fov helps reduce motion sickness.
