Me and many more backed this project in part because THERE IS NO 3RD PERSON in it!
Warhorse promised us from the very beginning that there would never be third person.
Sorry about you and all the other people who supposedly have problems, but you shouldn’t have backed a strictly 1st person game if you can not play it.

It’s not only about motion sickness versus realism here… The 3rd person view is something I use by default in games that gives me the option. I want to see my character and be able to study my new cloak or armour in the gameworld environment, not just in some inventory screen. This is a single player game so those of you who complains about it beeing un-realistic, drop it. Who will it be unfair too? The ai?
And also as mentioned before, we need a little push on the borders of realism to compensate for the unability of recreating human senses in a computergame. Please Warhorse, give us the option, thanx…
i prefer third person as well, but they have already explained technical, design, and q/a reasons for 1st person only. and they stated clearly early on there would be no first person. why do people keep asking this? it is like someone continually making threads about dragons when it is stated there will not be dragons in this game.
Anyway, just wait for the mods to start getting released. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that a 3rd person view is going to be one of the first ones we’ll see (kinda how the first 3rd party plugins for Windows 8 were traditional Start menus).
Pop a pill, problem solved. 3rd person do not belong in a game like this IMO
As people said, with the combat in this game 3rd person view is probably not an option. But there is a 100% chance that someone will make a combat mod that allows third person.

I love it how some of the people here asking and reasoning for having a third person option by saying it won’t affect the first person experience are the same people slandering anyone saying the same about multiplayer.

As Mighty Beard once said. He wanted Mafia from a third person view as it should look like a movie you watch. KCD on the other hand is suppose to be your personal experience from your view, not a movie.
However i’m pretty sure there will be a mod for a third person view rather sooner than later. So everybody will be happy in the end of years of discussions about this issue.
