Not at all.
They have been held back from delivering on improvements.
Their issue is a subset of their userbase.
Eg.
WH Game version one. Day one large patch.
Users: big download is bad. Some reviewers didnt even grab it.
WH rapid patch to fix issues
Users: too quick- patch introduces more bugs
WH slows patch releases
Users: patches too slow
(In context many companies dont deliver in any gorm of bug patch, or only when forced by a vendor for continued sales- many companies move onto new paid for content or a sequel)
WH increases testing of patches- catches a bug or two and has to delay some patches.
Users (PC): damn we have been given introduced issues- you bastards!
Console Users: give us the patches that break stuff cause it will fix other stuff! (We know how this would play out)
Easter - WH had the major update ready to go- presubmitted for all platforms to release for the easter break.
Catching a bug on pc platform, quickly addressed it but were required by Sony/Microsoft to resubmit.
Sony are on it. (Updates have been sent to them later and turned out quicker)
Microsoft are dogs about it. They could do something but they dont.
If the entity that is mocrosoft wasnt so large and anyone could have meaningful discourse with them this could be alleviated.
Ya think Turn 10 or any internal MS studio has same turnaround times? (No). KCD could have been given some special treatment if MS wanted to help out- given that their platform is coming off worse for the very quality assurance it is trying to ensure.
Personally Id have vastly preferred this game launch on ps4 and pc… the ps4 release a month after pc.
Microsoft have had market rules for a long time that in order to launch on their platform it has to be before other platforms or not at all.
When they built a vastly underpowered console and backedit with anticonsumer practices many gamers jumped ship to Sony/playstation.
MS now fighting hard to get back to being a player in the console market (dont underestimate Sony lead with installed units that MS will never catch)
They ease up on some of their requirements on developers.
If they want to play nice they can.
I blame warhorse only for considering the xbox as a platform for their game in the first place.
The xbox one/one s/one x is stupid to have to optimise for. The differences between one and one s would preclude me supporting that platform. (If decision were mine).
Xbox x trying to market as 4k means they went for higher res (1400p) res and thirty fps (likely at MS wishes).
Would have been better at 1080 res and fourty plus framerates (feels like an arcade game). But that wouldnt sell xbox x’s nor look better on box shots.
Ps4 and pro are easy and relatively consistant.
This isnt cell processor (risc) vs cisc like the xbox vs ps3 days.
All platforms have same underlying hardware.
Ps4 was 40% more powerful than xbox one.
That should have been the low point cutoff for thirty frames per second.
Game would be way better if not for the huge issues that working with mocrosoft entails.
