I really wish I can ban people from certain topicsâŚspecifically people who donât know how to take a conversation to a private chat instead of exhausting all of us with this nonsense. Seriously this is exactly what a mod is for. (not locking down threads mister Tobi) to help foster civil conversations.
the only person here to blame is you , 3 out of 3 on these kind of your threads have turned into big rows , one (muslim brotherhood ) was shut down and the other one on homosexuality has vanished so i assume that was shut down as well and this one has erupted to an argument . surly when you post these topics youâre aware youâre on very very unsteady ground. these topics always turn nasty and personal because everyone has such a strong view on them , hence why theyâre avoided .
so now what we have rather than a excited community of gamers we a load of people being quite nasty to one another and generally not getting on . i respect this is the off topic section but madaras there is a time and place for civil âpoliticalâ conversations and the warhorse gaming forum is not the place .
i respect this is a very personal "struggle " for you (assuming youâre gay ) but stop posting these kinds of threads and focus on what brought us all here which is the game a bloody epic one at that

the muslim brotherhood thread was fun while it lasted even if this forum wasnât the right place for it and I think some form of moderator intervention was nessesary. (because it got all the attention)
but this thread is gaming related, where else are you suposed to talk about the topic? what would be the point if everone was on the same side? That sad if both sides donât listen to each other and just want to proof that the other is evil and stupid it is pointless.
i agree to a point , these topics are pointless because it comes down to opinion at the end of the day
its like arguing blue is better than red , we could go on all day call each other names etc but at the end we will leave with the same opinion .
the reason the team dont get involved is because its not professional too , on one hand you can say "its free speech we can bring it up as much as we like " and youd be right but you cannot then turn around and say "well just ban them people arguing against us " because youâre then revoking there right to free speech , so the only options the moderators have is to either shut the topic down or let it run out , you cannot ban one side because they would then be taking sides

The discussion was going fine for a while⌠may need to have the overt bigotry and hissy fits pruned, but still entertaining.
@georgewest Although i don´t agree with your opinions in homosexuality (which is okay, not everybody can share the same opinions), I agree with this statement. You can´t just say: âHere ban this guy, he got this opinion, I don´t like him.â. You can ban someone if he doesn´t follow the rules of this forum or something like that. If @TobiTobsen would ban someone for his opinion he would not only taking sites but he would also have to ban every user with this opinion.
And if he takes a topic down everybody suddenly starts crying about freedom of opinion and bla this and bla that, but if a topic goes out of control and everybody starts injuring the other or something like that and if, in addition, this topic has nothing to do with the game, then it´s better to just shut it down. There are other ways to argue with each other than this forum, you know?^^
And, in @TobiTobsen ´s defense (as someone with experience in this) I have to say⌠it´s quite hard to be the only Community Manager in a forum, even it is not that large yet.
Oh and:

Sure but people tend to stick to like minded people who they canât argue with for that reason. The composition of people makes the forum interessting for this reson. I still think this thread is game related enouth for this forum. Moderation should intervene if things get too ugly and are not constructiv anymore. But when that point is reached is a matter of opinion agin.
Even though I like your enthusiasm and your effort, the line where you had just a normal conversation is long past. The off-topic description clearly says: âPlease keep the conversations civilâ, which is not given here. This topic IS game related which is the only reason why we didnât closed it earlier. But attacking and insulting each other is just not what we want to achieve with our Forum. Itâs full of flags and we see any point in keeping this topic alive and/or in moderating it.
The good thing on opinions is that everybody can has one.
