Hope PC has full controller support?

I do not want to start a flame war over which is better keyboard or controller. My opinion is offer both so that you can pick whichever is your preference.

I personally like sitting on a couch and using a controller. I also prefer PC over PS4, XB1 - especially if there will be a modding community (which if like Skyrim will be awesome). Since this game is being made for the PS4 and XB1, obviously it is being programmed to work with a controller only. So I REALLY hope this game is made so their is native controller only support for the PC version (along with keyboard/mouse support for those that prefer that). Please offer us both for the PC!!!

Thanks,

Its a long way off so hopefully by then PS4 and XB1 controllers will be long established on PC and maybe even the steam controller will be out and good!

Would also very much like to see gamepad support of some kind, though xbox360 controller support is probably the easiest to do I would say at a guess. I play most of my RPG games on my TV, and I don’t want a repeat of the Mass Effect games whereby I was forced to use KB+M because the developer refused to support other input methods.

I have great faith in the Warhorse team though so I’m sure this will not be a problem.

Even if there is no native support for a controller there are nice goodies you can download to emulate support and and custom button binds.

I know there are good softwares to emulate controllers, but when the game is designed with the controller in min the experience is much better (for playing with the controller, of course). It is terrible when you are playing with keyboard/mouse and the game shows something like"press RT". It is also terrible when you are playing with a controller and the game shows something like “press E”.

The developer talking in today’s video update on Kickstarter used a (Xbox) controller to navigate through the ingame world on his monitor, so I assume there will be full controller support.

Yes, I saw that too. Looks like there was nothing to worry about.

Ich hoffe auch auf eine Volle Xbox Controller unterstĂĽtzung. Mein HTPC freut sich schon auf KingdomeCome

They already answered this question. Full Controller support:

We are developing the game with console controller in mind. Actually, we are developing it FOR that controller. But on PC this will be optional, typical mouse+keyboard will be definitely fully supported which means there will be no confusing tooltips showing controller buttons / sticks / pedals / whatever as a hint how to NOT control it. Mouse will be supported also in the inventory and map UI.

Glad that those who like using controllers are getting the support they’re after (sincerely), but as a PC gamer who hates using controllers for fps games I’m personally a little dissappointed to hear that KCD will be leading on controller rather than mouse and keyboard (aside from those playing from a couch, or with consoles as main platform, I’dont get why it would the the chosen primary input device).

I’m not going to go into all the reasons why I vastly prefer M&K and dont want to start a flame war or anything (really), just posting my personal opinion.

Really hope that some of the developers are hardcore K&M-ers like myself - Seeing PC FPS games played with a controller as preference gives me the fear a little.

If Warehouse is going for console release, it’s the logical thing to do - first optimize for input most players are going to be using and then optimize for the minority. All we can hope for is proper implementation of Mouse + Keyboard, i.e. no mouse acceleration, autoaim or stuff like that when using M+K combo, and proper buttom prompts, control settings (I would actually love to see that for a controller as well. When the new DMC offered me to set individual gamepad controls, I was jumping with joy.) and stuff like that. Proper quick access bar driven by hotkeys would be cool as well, even some PC-first games didn’t get that properly (I’m looking at you, Witcher 2.)

Of course, proper PC-centric settings would be a must as well. Regardless, I’m going to be using a controller as I vastly prefer it for most games supporting it, but I want PC community to have a choice - after all, that’s what being a PC player is all about.

Even though I use the controller, I hope the keyboard/mouse option is well implemented too…

obviously. they’re already using that in demonstrations.

ever see a pc game without mouse and keyboard support?

Yeah, I hear where you guys are coming from but still, I wish that wasn´t the case (consoles likely selling more units = lead platform). Though WH have said all platforms are equal, the fact that they´re prioritising the conrtoller as their primary method of input leaves me feeling that either consoles are once again dicatating play and/or that WH actually prefer playing PC FPS games with a controller as opposed to K&M - Both are not what I´d hoped to hear.

I´m not moaning at you guys for prefering to play with a controller either (though it may come over a little like that) - It´s just not my personal preference and thus I´m disappointed to hear that WH believes this is the best way to play their game (in that it makes me wonder what other design decisions I may, personally, disagree with).

There are really no restrictions when it comes to designing a game for controller. In the past, it has been proven that control methods PC players find annoying (like multiple actions on one button, no quick bars etc.) can be resolved for a PC - and even better, while keeping the gamepad controls intact if player opts to use them. Dishonored or Kingdoms of Amalur are good examples of this, with their entire UI changing around to correspond to your input method when you as much as touch your mouse / gamepad.

It does require more development of course, but if other titles could do it, I see no reason why KC: D shouldn’t.

Plz make both KB & Mouse and Controller working both at the same time!

It was perfect in GTA IV, where you could drive around with the controller (better for braking & steering) and when you got out of your vehicle you just used KB & Mouse.

I hope there is a good Keyboard and mouse control!and Not such a terrible like in dark souls 2.

good , for me i have my pc hooked up to my tv at the end of my bed so i use my mouse on my bed (well actually i use my ipad as a mouse mat ) which is fine with general computer browsing but when it comes to gaming its impossible , so i have to use an xbox controller , so if they didnt support it i literally would be screwed like elder scrolls online which doesnt have proper support so i ended up pre-ordering special edition in so much excitement i didnt check if it supported it . i install and BAMM cant play it , dont get me wrong i tried but it just feels dreadful . so you better not get rid of the support war horse ! please

they wont get rid of it
the game will have controller support
they are even using a controller plugged into a pc in the livestream vdeo
