Horse not galloping PS4

I know there has been issues with this before and that they have been fixed by clearing up inventory to make the horse gallop. But just how light does my load have to be? I can’t get past the “Run” quest because no matter how I tap the O button, the horse just won’t gallop. I’ve only grabbed a few apples and some bread (inventory weight around 11,5) so surely my inventory can’t be the issue here. Or is it? I’ve been losing my mind trying to make the horse gallop, only to be ending up dying because of the enemy catching and killing me. The load times are outrageous, so I’m really considering ditching this game because of total frustration.

All you have to do is double tap the sprint button.

if you can’t figure that out, probably best to ditch the game…

You can no longer put more on the horse than it can run with.

Double press shift to gallop. Not all horses are the same. It is possible you picked a dud… and you are being followed by other horses.

Like I wouldn’t have tried that? I’ve tapped the crap out of the sprint button but the horse just won’t gallop. Did I explain the issue better now that even you can understand? Always nice to receive comments from people like you. I recommend two things for you: 1. Learn how to read. 2. Learn some manners.

it sounds like you haven’t tried it because you cannot get your horse to sprint even though it is a really simple part of the game… “I’ve tapped the crap out of the sprint button but the horse just won’t gallop.” You DOUBLE tap the button… dont mash it…

I suggest you 1. learn how to read, play the game and 2. F**k Off…

i had a similar problem, double tab wouldn’t work but as i tried I didn’t pres the L-Stick… L-Stick (for direction) + double B worked for me… i thought i didn’t need to push the L-Stick for direktion like in the witchter 3 game but without giving a direction it didnt work as i tried

You know, trolling and being an a*se online was something new and cool back in late 90’s and early 00’s. Nowadays it’s just stupid. But I guess you were just a dirty thought in your father’s head back then. So why won’t you just shut it and let civilised people handle this issue. Thank you.

Cheers mate, I’ll try to pay attention to that and give it one more try.

I’m no troll though or being an ass…

Just sick of stupid people complaining about the game when they can’t even figure out the most basic of things. instead of playing the game they come here to whine like a bitch…

No need to be rude.

If you think that is being rude you must be a real snowflake…

That’s what the problem was, now I’ve had a blast with the game! Thank you for your kindness for answering me in a friendly way, unlike others.

I am happy to hear that.

I’m having the same problem, although on PC. It seems to be a bug. All of a sudden my horse can’t run/gallop anymore. I didn’t put anything in the inventory or such. Just 2 minutes earlier it was still working fine. It might have to do with the border of the map, I think. I was exploring the border (where you also nearly slow down to a halt when you reach it) to reveal the map there. When I hit the end, I whistled for my horse and when I mounted it, from that moment on it would only walk. Problem is: It stays that way. I’m far away from the border now and tried several times, mounting, demounting, moving away from the horse, whistling for it, trying again, emptying both, my and its inventory completely etc. etc. it seems there’s nothing I can do to make it run/gallop again.

P.S.: In case there’s another N1kolaiUK here that can’t read or comprehend even the easiest stuff: It has nothing to do with me not being able to tap a button twice or the horse being overencumbered. I’m more than 50hrs into the game, spent a lot of time on horseback already and know how to make the horse gallop. In fact, I explored most of the map that way already. I know how to make it run/gallop and it is NOT overencumbered.

edit: After dying and reloading, it now works again. When I look at the horse stats it also shows 28 now. While it was stuck at 1 before.

Thanks for a response that was concise, so many of these posts are basically ‘get gud’ responses. Im going to try the die respawn thing, and it happened to me after the same instance. I ran against the edge of the map while running away from a combat instance, and managed to escape and fast travel. When i had spawned my horse had a speed rating of 1 and would not gallop/canter. Ill give dieing a go after ive slept for save.

P.S. Im on PC.

I encountered the same bug with PS4 just now. Horse speed 1 after exploring the edge of the map. I hope they will fix it despite the workaround.

Had the same thing happen on PC here as well. Brushed up on the edge of the map and couldn’t gallop or trot on my horse - eventually I hit a save and reloading resolved the problem.

Yeah it seems if you hit the edge of the map your horse will never be able to do anything but walk. I really enjoy the endless bugs this game has.
