How do I run this game at playable FPS?

i7-3820
16GB RAM

Was getting about 5-17 fps outside the millers house with all settings at minimum so I got a 1060 from a friend to replace my 970 with. No difference. I then overclocked my CPU from 3.6GHz to 4.625GHz and though it’s slightly better, I’m still not getting much above 17, and turning up some graphics settings has me down to 5 again.

What gives? Every other game i try runs solidly, even without the newer GPU and overclocking.

Figured it out. Putting my GPU in a different (more inconveniently positioned) PCIe slot (from x1 to x16, lol) gave me way higher FPS.
Funny how other games run fine at even x1.

Now I have another problem. The game keeps crashing.

Upgrade your cpu. That would solve the problem.

I read somewhere, something about turning hyper threading off. Does it work? I don’t know. Can’t hurt to try.
