How do we get our games? (digital)

How do digital donors get our game? sorry if very obvious but i have just been wondering will it be through email or through the forums?

It hasn’t been announced yet, but I guess it will be through steam?

most probably (hopefully)

I also think it will be through Steam. If they want to release not just PC version, but also Mac and Linux version, I think Steam is best option for every developer with interest in publishing the game on all “PC-like” platforms. Any other current publishing platform is surely more complicated in terms of release of Linux and Mac version along with Win version. Alpha or beta may be published separately, we’ll just receive download link for standalone build of the game, but I belive final version will be published through Steam. But who knows, there is still lot of potential options

It will be Steam 100%, it was already confirmed.
You are correct. Quoted from their update #6 on Kickstarter…
DRM

We get many questions about DRM and whether our game is going to be DRM free. Frankly, we have to admit we are not sure at this moment. We are planning to use Steam on open platforms, so the game will be using Steam default copy protection mechanics. Other options including GOG.com are being considered but can’t be confirmed as of yet.
ahhh steam is annoying when it comes to offline gaming

I honestly prefer steam. I never have an excuse to give away or sell a game because I can’t.

Well prior to release for the alphas and betas a download link will probably just be emailed to you or messaged to you via these forums. Once it finally releases it will probably be on steam. I don’t know for sure, I’m just speculating.

Yes, likely it will be right that.

I have to say back in the day I didn’t “get” Steam, but now it’s the only place I have and play games. Great platform.

Another basic question from someone who doesn’t use Steam (and intends to keep it that way): I’ll receive the game physically, will it still require Steam?

I would rather if they kept off steam, but I think that is the only way you can play games now. The only reason it exists is that pirates would not copy the games but that didn’t stop them. Nothing stopped them still.

I’ve become a fan of Kickstarter partly because I’m getting fed up of Steam-exclusive releases, so I’ll be fairly pissed off if they don’t offer some other distribution method. (I don’t mind if the alpha/beta release is just Steam, though.)

Why? It works fine for me offline
yes I can’t get achievements but who cares really
Or am I missing something?

Same here. If it was optional I’d be fine. I use Steam, but if there’s an option for a DRM free game I definetely prefer that.

Gone Home (a game I just recently played and enjoyed) offers direct purchase through their website, or via Steam. I’m sure Warhorse could do something like that if they choose to.

Probably via steam. They will most likely mail the acces codes

I certainly hope Steam is not necessary in order to receive the digital goodies.
Nothing was mentioned about needing it in the Kickstart information.
I am not able to access Steam where I live. So it would definitely be an issue for me.
