Found a way to keep Radzig’s sword at the beginning of the game.
When running away from Talmberg stop off at the Inn there and buy a perma room. You may hafta use a console cheat and add just enough money since your probably poor at this point.
Once you have the room put in your chest and continue on. when you wake up in Rattay it will be there for you.
Don’t worry. the cutscene still shows you having the sword and will complete as normal. Was done under patch 1.5
If you harvest herbs, mutton, beef, etc and lockpick chests in Skalitz, you shouldn’t need a console cheat for Gr
so you are saying don’t finish [home coming] mission and stay in the tutorial?
Drain everything you can from Skalitz before the sacking. You should gain enough money^ to rent out the room in Talmberg and stash the sword (assuming it can be transferred to the chest) before heading to Rovna, Skalitz in order to bury your parents
An alt and perhaps less tedious approach might be to dump the sword in the barn (S wall of castle, W wall of barn)

oh. the sword does go into the chest. I’ve already done it and am carrying it around.
At 45/45/3 durability 40 it gets out classed quickly by the merchants sword, the duelist, and the soul slicer .
Wish Venegence as a MQ line would disappear and cut scenes would be adjusted appropriately to this sensible RPG decision. Not holding my breath

It doesn’t work for me. Radzig’s sword is a quest item which means you can’t store it in a chest. How did you put it inside a chest?
I just did. The inn was my 1st stop.
saw It in my inventory on Henry as a sword in the weapons section.
Got the perma room.
opened the stash box & put my better gear I stole from the Chamberlin and other places around the castle & the sword in it.
Whether any of my mods affected I can’t say. However I don’t believe so.
edit: a bug, glitch, luck? 
I know I didn’t start Home coming mission.
I was still on the leave Talmberg part.
I went from the gate straight to the inn.
Will test as soon as WH fixes playline2 Vanyek bug. Hope WH doesn’t ‘fix’ this in 1.6
