Exactly, We should have to follow a blood trail and approach them from behind. Realism
Why not both? Fixing animal AI and pathfinding shouldn’t be too hard I wouldn’t imagine
But the body will naturally react to it, they jump, panic, and freak out for a bit before they drop. Not like some lifeless dummy. I know this is a game and all, but a bit more realism would be nice.
Agreed.
Not just animal AI issue. I approach ambush point at night with torch and go behind them. NPCs don’t react. In daylight, if I don’t cross triggering point and shoot at them and miss, they act just like the 4 legged animals
Yeah, for the rest of the npc’s as well, make them feel more life like and natural with their movements and reactions.
These lore friendly fauna need to be added at minimum. Because it becomes a total joke after encountering the 100th deer/bunny rabbit hopping happily around the forest–without a care for any predator in the world? So at minimum need to add:
Fauna
1.WOLVES. I keep hearing them howl everywhere --especially in the thickest part of the woods–so WTH are they MIA?
2.Wild dogs, Foxes & Goats (domestic & wild for goats)
3. Bears (because these still exist in modern day bohemia)
4. Lynx and native wild cat species.
Wild Horses. Surely there had to be a couple herds of wild horses roaming the woods & plain areas
5.Aquatic animals like toads/frogs. These would be good for alchemy especially frogspawn. Then there are beavers/otters and possibly ferrets
6.FISH FFS. Several different species would be great. Perhaps even make a mini fishing game out of the rare types you could catch. Let players discover where these spots on the map are. Or keep players guessing and randomize these spawn points every time you load up the game. Once caught, the game would track this stat as a collector’s item for the achievement minded gamers.
7.Avian species. The only birds present are the domesticated chickens? Really WH? Well I’m here to tell you hunting fowl were essential to the medieval diet. And doing this would’ve also been considered poaching since wild birds lived in the King’s royal woods. But this would’ve increased the opportunity for the starving peasantry to catch a decent bit of protein from time to time. Since poaching a partridge sized fowl would’ve been far easier than taking down a deer or boar. So need pheasants, partridges, wild geese (a lot of ponds and streams everywhere on map FFS).
8. Predatory and rarer avian species like Owls, eagles, storks, and, ospreys of course vultures. Because we have a lot of NPC/animal rotting carcasses showing up everywhere in the game.
Flora
These foods need to be converted from static/non interactive clutter to real food that can be consumed as food or for potions. Hell even feed your horse or village/town dogs you encounter to get the animals on your side:
1.Apples/fruit both which grow on trees and the ones on ground (already fallen from trees) The ones on ground should have same freshness timer like all fruit in your inventory. So an apple on the ground may be rotten when you find it if enough time has passed. Or perhaps not fresh enough to eat, but still good enough to give your horse. Or keep a watch dog preoccupied so you can go about sneaking. Or be able to put a putrid apple into a stewpot, giving NPCs food poisoning so you can sneak around the NPC camp etc ec.
2. Berries. There are bushes which suggest berries but can’t harvest them.
NPC farm vegetable plots. WTF can’t these be harvested for food? Skyrim shouldn’t be leading the example on this one where realisim is concerned IMO.
From a realism perspective: my guess is the conspicuous and rarer cuisine like that was likely imported. Which brings me to suggesting another lore friendly addition: adding nomad traders that you can randomly encounter on the roads between towns/villages. These traders would be foreign merchants trading exotic goods not obtainable in Bohemia. These traders would have a low inventory of high cost, rare goods. Foodstuffs like exotic spices, salted duck/geese etc. that would last long given the amount of time they had to spend traveling on the roads.
And would make wondering the vacant outer space called the woods a bit more interesting. bears can be territorial (especially if they have cubs). Nice if a mod could do what Real Wildlife Skyrim did by adding young and juvenille wildlife. So you’d actually see young bear cubs and wolves around Skyrim. since I had the Animallica mod (which added a TON of more varied wildlife) I got to see the baby/juvenille and young adult animals everywhere while hunting. I’d always selectively spare the mother animal if they had young offspring whenever hunting.
There are even woodland garden plots (eg W of S portion of Ledetchko, off path a little).
Cheese? Some cattle but seem more beef and less dairy and haven’t seen goats.
No wheat, barley evident but mills everywhere. Lentil mash and soup. No lentil crops. Beer but hops can’t be harvested
With some tweaks, could be really interesting
I agree
WTH can’t we milk cows and produce dairy products (cheese/butter/milk whey) from craft/workstations like a churn?
WTH can’t we sow and grow crops? Harvest wheat/barely/grain to make porridge or beer?
WTH is there lard in the game (yes for alchemy reasons) but we can’t make that at a tanner, a cookpoot, or Alchemy workbench?
WTH can’t we craft miscellanous functional clutter we see all around the place like candles, water/wine bags (clearly from animal stomachs/hides), alchohol/spirits/beer, and torches?
I can do all of this in vanilla and modded Skyrim btw
My petty annoyance right now is no place Henry can buy/improve and can’t convince/pay Miller Peshek to make upgrades (eg alchemy station, herb garden for potions)
Considered how many things they can add to this game that gives real gameplay value. Then looking att how bear and wolves AI is in all other games… Do I then want devs to spend time on adding that? No… no… no.
Before now? No. Right now? No, need to fix what’s broken and not designed well. Next? Pls do as originally planned: smithy, mounted units, polearms, dog companion. After that? Pls implement some suggestions above
Well this isn’t exactly Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood…
Although I will admit a Skyrim-esque Legacy building/Hearthfire feature like that would be very nice. In fact, it would be great if Henry could craft/build an entire house from scratch, furnish it with goods based on his smithing, hunting & bartering skill. Have the ability to take Teresa as his wife and have kids during the MQ. If they’re going to add a female protagonist (who will likely be Teresa IMO) then they should seriously consider adding this Hearthfire/legacy building feature.
Well what sort of features would you like to see? Other than being a negative Nancy here?
Hey, the Talmberg huntsman sells a wolf canine. I wanna harvest one of those defending Theresa on a mission to gather berries (or whatever)
If WH can figure out the AI to make a proper dog companion, they can create meaningful (dangerous) wolves and bears
Improved cooking where you can’t eat for free from all cooking pots, food don’t just respawn in cooking pots without you acctualy doing something and making cooking more like alchemy is
Some basic housing stuff, like you can get a house in this game but would be good if we could add like a alchemy table, improve the awefull bed that is at that house etc
Hunting improvements so skinning animals is not just normal click E loot. Also adding fishing, atleast fishing traps since that system is allready in game, we just need to be able to buy and place them ourself so it’s not stealing(atleast when you are talmberg huntsman)
Just more end-game stuff, that would give more to do after completed main story and most of the side missions and give something to do with all the money you have. And ofc blacksmithing
And many other things I would personly say would be alot better then more animals
My favorite time burner to do in game!
I rather have this implemented than doing anything with cooking.
