Dying from 4 stab in the face when not wearing any helmet looks normal to me
Still he was suppose to be a big baddie. A lot of people were having trouble with him, so I thought I was going to as well. The guy barely touched me, and I killed him with 4 hits. I felt jipped.
This gives me hope.
To each their own. Iād prefer they donāt mess with the difficulty much really. I donāt want to have to grind myself to rediculous stat levels just to make progress. The fights right now are challenging for me. Iām in very good armor, with good weapons and I barely pulled out a win over Runt, that took me about 10-15 minutes of back and forth with him because Iām just not that good at the game. Make it any harder and I just end up quitting because it becomes impossible for me.
People who choose to grind their stats and skills to close to max level can deal with their choices.
Sounds normal to me as well ā¦ not every sword fight was an epic fight that last 1 hour. Actually real sword fights were really short.
Someone who is stabbed 4 times to the face with a sword would be in a pretty bad shape ā¦
It is something that should be expected that fights get shorter and easier when you master swordsmanship, because thatās usually what happens in reality.
It kinda gives me hope that they acknowledged that most people find it way too hard, it is in their best interest to not neglect biggest part of gamers for a niche of hardcore gamers in this matter.
The problem is you can get stabbed 8 times in the face and not die. The balance is way out-of-whack, your character is astronomically more durable than the enemies he fights. This is what breaks the immersion and needs to be addressed.
@ZL647 you will get to the point where your charterer becomes over powered that doesnt necessarily mean you have to grind even if you dont at some point you character become ridiculously strong.
Iām finding that a person that goes through the game using mostly just speech/diplomacy WILL struggle with combat at some point though.
Honestly, itās the people that use combat as their primary āproblem solvingā method that tend to get a bit too buff.
One of my playthroughs is roughly mid-way through the story and has a 3 str.
So letās just keep in mind that however they address the enemy AI and combat skill/stat scaling, it may make the game VERY hard for people that donāt focus on combat.
the only problem I see here is the game is not balanced at higher level, and WH has officially addressed this problem and they are trying to fix it.
Theyāve already stated that they will be fixing this.
Agreed, iām right there with you. I was just urging caution to not address this from the perspective of ONLY the combat heavy players.
I can tell you my 2 playthroughs play very differently based on lack of focus on combat versus extreme focus on combat.
I have the same view point, but it seems that there are two major opinions floating around.
In all honesty I cannot understand how anyone can find the sword fights easy, it is beyond my understanding.
But maybe itās because Iām really bad at this game, I have no idea.
Iām in the same situation right now where my gear is really good and Iām getting Henry to be skillful, but I donāt pull wins with 1 hit, far from that. Surely you will kill pity bandits with poor equipment much easier, but that is just common sense ā¦ ?
I had to face knights on the road a few times, they completely destroyed me or I barely made it out alive.
I think there is a lot of confusion and misunderstanding from people who do not understand how sword fights work, I hope this doesnāt result in the game being completely unplayable for people who arenāt elite players who spend 20h a day grinding a game.
I would also probably end up quitting, because it would be too much of a hassle. I donāt have so much time to spend in a game just to win a sword fight, I have a job, a life.
But again, just like any other games the more vocals will win this argument ā¦ this is always how itās been.
In the end I hope WH comes up with a good compromise to make everyone happy and doesnāt butcher the game for people like you and me.
I donāt think this is a huge problem. Sure, I take no damage with max skills and full plate if I play defensively. However, this makes sense. If Iām covered in 4 layers of armour and getting perfect blocks on 90% of strikes I SHOULD be taking minimal damage.
However, enemies in full plate donāt seem to benefit to the same degree. Iām not sure why this is. Perhaps they donāt use as many laters? Maybe they donāt keep it at 100%? Regardless, the wandering knight shouldnāt go down in 30 seconds to a mid-level Henry in full plate. (I wasnāt even high level or particularly skilled. I literally just stabbed his breastplate until he died. Meanwhile, his strikes failed to penetrate armour.)
A full plated and kitted out opponent should be able to take a few hits i guess until his equipment is full of holes. Took out the faint-hearted knight with one counter. oops.
But two opponents are still hard to manage at the same time, even if iām fully kitted out. (level 13)
Iāve found multiple opponents manageable up to about 4. Do you keep moving in combat? If you stay in one place they ones you arenāt locked onto will get free hits. Iād also recommend stabbing anyone with an open helm in the face or smashing their head in with a mace. You could also consider using a debuff poison for crowd control. (Nick them with dollmaker or lullaby and focus on the others.)
Most or the people you fight dont have full plate armor because it was extremely expensive back then.
Iām not talking about them. Iām talking about the few enemies who are actually in full plate such as the wandering knights.
