I give up!

I don’t know what else to do to try and enjoy this game. First off, here are my pc specs:

CPU - i7 4790k
RAM - 16GB DDR3-1866
GPU - EVGA GTX 1080 SC2
SSD - Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
PSU - EVGA SuperNova G2 750w

I have tried everything I can think of to run this game to a level I’m satisfied with, and I’m coming up empty. I have scoured Google for weeks, I have tried optimization mods, I have tried every User.cfg command imaginable, and I’m still getting no more than 20-30 FPS on LOW settings at 1080p. In towns, the FPS drops to 10-15. My drivers are up to date. This is the first game that I haven’t been able to run adequately in 4k, let alone 1080p. I finally said screw it, and tried to play with low FPS last night, and as soon as I exit the game…BSOD.

Please, if someone knows anything I have overlooked, let me know and I’m open to any and all suggestions. I want to enjoy this game so bad, but for the life of me I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong here. I honestly am getting to the point where I wish I had never bought it at all.

Please. Help. Me.

I have a same problem. i think problem is in our i7-4790k because game use only 2 core .

with 6700k (same GPU) at 1080 on stock ultra settings, i only dip into the mid 30’s occasionally , mostly running in the 50’s, so yea, could be the cpu.

Look into have root folder that is log, if all intel CPU Instructution sets are used, on my 4770S its running fine, so problem would be probably… What is in Task manager?

watching thread like this make me stop to update my PC, i thought my system is allready outdated, but seeing u all have so many problems with graphic, crashes, fps confues me much, coz i play KCD with High setting and constantly 40 fps (on 1080p) and no crashes and minor bugs, only savegame load errors makes me cry

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 16299)
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4430 CPU @ 3.00GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 12288MB DDR3-RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
SanDisk SSD 240G

at this moment u cant play this game with 4k and 60fps, no matter with which configuration you have.
Dont push the quality to the end, the Ultra setting is for coming configurations. (in 4k or 3440x1440)

Windows 10 64Bit, I7 5820K 6x4,2Ghz, 32Gb DDR 4 RAM @3,2 Ghz, TitanX Maxwell,
Samsung SSDs 840er PRO/ 960PRO M.2

I’m playing with an old GTX 770 with highest settings. Have u installed the newest graphic driver? Have u also checked your mainboard drivers?

certainly 391.01 (bevor 390.77) Dont forget the resolution

there must some thing brocken, this is not normal for your system.
You can upload your dxdiag here, so we can look whats getting wrong.

my monitor works best at 1920 x 1080. i also use this resolution for any game

i7-2600K, 8GB RAM and 1080Ti, game installed on SSD. 1440p ultra settings - 40-55fps usually. In rattay city it drops from time to time to 20, sometimes its ok. When it drops, i quit the game and start again and after that its usually pretty ok.

Windows 10 64Bit, I7 5820K 6x4,2Ghz, 32Gb DDR 4 RAM @3,2 Ghz, TitanX Maxwell,
Samsung SSDs 840er PRO/ 960PRO M.2

I play with everything high at 3440x1440, except texture quality on ultra, Postprocessing- and Shaderquality on very high and play with ~42fps outside and ~32fps inside rooms. Only in scene in the night with many light sources (torches) i have massive frame drops.

@tangyzesty. You have a PM.

All drivers are up to date. GPU driver is 391.01. Every other game i own runs flawlessly. I’ve been building gaming PCs for nearly 20 years, and I’ve never experienced anything like this. I even had my friend over, who taught me most of what I know, and he can’t figure it out either.

I’ve decided to just give up and ask steam for a refund. Fortunately I’m still a few minute shy of 2 hours due to how unplayable the game is. I’m not trying to be a d-bag, but first impressions do matter, and I’m going to think long and hard before purchasing another Warhorse title. I feel like they rushed this out to meet a deadline, and could have used several months of added development time. I know the gaming community isn’t known for their patience, but honestly I would have rather waited an extra 6 months and had a better experience than what I’ve dealt with over the last couple weeks.

Maybe I’ll give KC:D another crack in the future, if it’s at a steep discount and the bugs/optimization are fixed.

I think a PC user told one of the XB1 users if they didn’t like the graphics then to buy a gaming PC and buy it on PC - so if you want to play the game then I suppose the answer is to buy a PS4 or XB1 and buy the game for one of those.

Seriously, I gave up playing a lot of games on PC a decade ago because every new game wanted me to buy a new CPU/GPU, double my memory, and so on. Its easier as a casual gamer to expect the game to play well on a single platform than on hundreds and thousands of custom builds. That said , I hope KCD gets to the point that it plays really well on most PCs so I can enjoy the better quality eventually.

No that not right. The PC hardware requirement stagnate since some years, couse of the compatibly with console games.
The only misunderstanding for many pc user is to play the game in best quality, witch is often much better than the console quality.
When you see my post above, no console can run KCD with this settings.

i7-6770k with 1080, 16gb of RAM, SSD and having similar issues. I could get 40-50 occasionally but if there were more than 4 characters on screen the framerate slowed to single digits. Had to change all my settings to low just to get 20fps during the battle sequences. It’s absolutely baffling watching people with 970s play those same quests but at 60fps.

So your problem is not probably is GPU, but its else, try to check what is consuming your CPU, turn off antivirus, Overlays etc…

You should be getting better performance than that, I have a not too powerful system (i5-6500, GTX 950, 8Gb DDR3, 850 EVO SSD) getting 35-45 fps at 1080p and medium settings.
There’s something going wrong, don’t know what but don’t give up.

It’s funny you say that, I actually prefer to play games on my PS4 Pro, and I originally planned on buying KC:D for PS4, but after i heard about the incredibly stupid save system, I decided to go with PC so I could use a save mod. I have a young son, sometimes i need to save immediately damn it. I usually only play games on PC if I really enjoyed them on PS4 and want to try them with REAL mods (Skyrim, Fallout 4, Witcher 3 etc)

I’m definitely not buying a broken game twice though lol. Unfortunately for me, I bought a steam code and those aren’t refundable, so I’m stuck with this turd. I’ll give it another go in 2019 once the game is actually, you know…playable. Hopefully.

Hhm…
