From what I’ve read today in a German gaming magazine fights are rather rare in KC:D.

As far as I’ve heard, its all play style. You can have hardly any fights at all or fight all the time. Really is your choice. (Yes, actually your choice… No illusions.)
You can go on killing spree if you want… But don’t expect to last long
