Slept outside Ratay and now my game seems to be stuck like this…
Jeez…fortunately, i never encountered this bugs.
Hey matey … a few quick glipmpses into a few of the threads you’ve been posting on and the issues you are experienceing…
It LOOKS like your system is having major issues streaming textures into play.
If Ihad two guesses I would go with your consoles has had many games installed and uninstalled, or the drive used for media content, and it has had some added and deleted. This means your drive could be very fragmented.
Guess number 2 is that you are not aware that that could be a huge issue for modern texture streaming games (iD software engine games like Rage/Wolfenstein & Doom, also GTA etc) and installed the game onto your drive as soon as you could free up enough space to fit it on.
This might not be specific to yourself, but many console users suffering texture load issues could easily fall into this camp.
Identifying that these problems have been getting progressivly worse, say, over the week, is also apart of it.
Some of this issue might be cause by later game saves,… where geuine buggyness could be holding you back, and is about to be fixed…
BUT
for the stuff that ISsystem specific; we need to try and fix it where we can.
Iwould recommend to clean install to a large free part of your drive.
Not believing the Playstation to have a defragment build in… Iwould uninstall a few original games (from when you first got the Playstation)- they would be taking up a large area of drive space at the start of the drive…
after they are gone, either restore KCD from an off drive backup or download a full clean version.
Iwould suggest you might want over 70-80Gb free so that if the patch has to download and modify files it can do…#
After which Iwould be inclined to make a game backup to an external drive, and then restore it back onto the largest clean bit of drive space you can make…
50Gb of ‘free’ space when found in little pockets like the holes in swiss cheese, makes for a drive that has to work very hard to try and load assets quickly.
As this game is designed, based on drive speed, .to load better assets in… it just gives up (?) it would seem.
The rain bug you first experienced (rain at night) is what tweaked me to this drive fragmentation being quite likely a system specifi thing (we CANfix)
Okay, thank you for the advise and extremely quick reply as well as taking a notice towards this thread as well as my other ones. I have deleted all the games from my PS4 other than KDC. I don’t have anything to download the game onto to reinstall it right now but will be buying an external hardrive on my next pay day. Will post back on here if the problem continues.
Spud, neither of the outcomes you have taken have helped or are likey to help…
Are you going to use the external drive as a way to move a backup of KCD off system and then back onto the main system drive? (if so, then - yes,… might help)
Given you have already removed other games… I would almost suggest to just delete and reinstall KCD as it would then install into the first available space on the drive, and - if what you say is true,… the drive is otherwise empty,… then you will be installing the game into a nice clean (continuous) space.
if you were going to simply be buying a new drive for gaming… your best bet would be to invest a few hours in time… and to swap you system disc for a faster one.
(Will benefit everything you do on the playstation)
Iput a fast 7200rpm drive in mine,… of the same size my playstation came with. might not sound like an upgrade,… but I would never go back. Even the menus on the playstation load quicker and respond zippily.
If you want to go down this path,… then a little research as to which drive to buy, some time putting some files on a fat32 formated thumb drive,… and half an hour total time (removing old drive, installing new drive and then running the USBdrive with some playstation firmware on startup) gets you a real and noticable change/improvement.
Heck Ihave done many 2Tb upgrades… many of which by purchasing an external drive, removing the drive and putting it inside the playstation, and taking the playstation drive and putting it in the external caddy (can then be used as a media drive etc)…
Lots of options become available… but YOUDONOTNEEDTOSPENDMONEY to fix this.
Just if you are going to spend money on a drive- it might as well do something more practical than just be space to bounce a backup onto…
Iwill keep monitoring thread (when available), but if you are going to get a new drive that gets installed into your playstation… we need to research which units will do.
lots of drives can lead to power and heat issues and issues with Sony firmware etc… more trouble than they are worth. A little research before hand can save a lot of time/frustraion after…
gaming off external drives is a joke… USB limits their usefulness. With a few exceptions… generally external drives are for media and backups.
If you want a fast drive for external/USB… then a 7200 roatations per minute (RPM) drive in a powered chassis will have best performance chance.
As I said… Iput a 7200rpm drive in my playstation in week one. Given I was doing a lot of upgrades across my commnuity at the time (either 2Tb upgrades, or 1Tb upgrades for original 500Gb users)… I got the process time down to being very quick. (Icould sell a playstation and upgrade it onsite/ at customers house)…
This isn’t hard stuff to do… and is worth the effort.
Just know that friends and family will want you to do the same for them
Using your present system, today, I would simply uninstall and reinstall using your newly ‘cleaned’ drive.
Will keep my eyes here for your post!
Okay pal, noted not sure I’m confident enough with my PlayStation to be changing anything internally and will just delete and reinstall KDC as you suggested and See how that works. You were right by the way, the problems I had at the start have been getting progressively worse, mainly the clipping and draw distance issues. However, the problem with the rain, I think, is just how it was made on the game (but I am far from an expert). After 4 hours of play I will come back to the post with an update. Thank you once again.
P.S. I love this community and forum
spot on! (cheers for raising the vibe)
yes, on the rain thread there seemed contention about whether this issue happened (only for some)…
Playstations being relatively identical,… should be the same for all… when it isn’t (we can usually do something)…
fair to say that all issues (not bugs) should go away with a fresh install… but hopefully you will see as early as the first menu… improved game loading.
ANYimprovement, when multiplied by hundreds of textures… is an improvement… trust me!
After deleting and reinstalling the pop in problems have gone better. The textures are at least popping in now. However, I would still say that the pop in issue and draw distance needs looking at to see if anything can be done about it
your pictures look far from normal pop ins
but when its better now thats fine - the issue remains unsolved until now
(it is a known issue many console players experience)
but there will be patches to improve the performance and you should get less pop-ins
next (and first real) patch will be version 1.3 (on PS4 displayed as ver. 1.05) this patch will probably come out in a week from now for ps4. You can keep us updated how it looks after the patch and if it has improved.
until then, have fun playing
This happened me me on Xbox One…i dont remember if I reset or if I just fast traveled somewhere else, did some stuff and then came back but eventually it went away. Saw it again in Sasau hours and hours in game later but it loaded up right after I could see it. Probably a problem loading stuff in
Okay mate will keep you updated Will certainly continue to enjoy the game thoroughly
Looks like this has nothing to do with the game< More like your hardware I’d say
On the PS4 pro pal, don’t think it’s hardware
