Im having issues going from longsword to sword and shield

Ive always just drifted toeards the longsword , put maybe 100 hours into that so im used to it. Since switching to sword and shield ive been having alot of isdues with timing and distance, I miss probably 30% or so of my strikes completely :man_facepalming: .

Anyone else have issues adapting to S&S from Longsword, any tips on running a S&S? Ive realized that one on one battles are much harder for me(especially tournaments) but against multiple armored opponents (especially if theres archers) theres no contest the S&S is better, for me.

Have you switched to a short sword with that shield? Or a mace and shield?

Mostly sword or hammer with shield.

Sword and shield implies either hunting or short

With a shield i tend to just go in rather than staying back and perfect blocking with longs

Same here. Get close enough to force a lock up then punch them back. While they’re stunned do an overhand with a ceremonial mace and it just crushes every time

Its hard to get so close when im used to a longsword lol

lol I hear ya and rightfully so. Personally I never use a shield and I fight with a mace/short sword. The perfect block/Master strike does the damage for you. Once you get use to getting close to the opponent and stunning them imo you’ll be able to do a lot of damage. Combos is whats tough for me
