I have a terminal illness and spent the last month dealing with atrocious pulmonary infections and am trying to heal. Playing this game has been helping that healing process. I’ve been wanting to see fixes for some parts of the game as my enjoyment was decreasing (PS4) and my eyes aren’t good so the blurry textures and poor LOD streaming was hurting my immersion. I saw I could get a Steam version inexpensively so I did just 2 days ago. I use Steamlink now to stream it to my living room tv and play with a gamepad. Since this game has been so helpful to me I thought I’d share my technical knowledge with others here on the forum as issues get sorted out as I’ve been kinda taking a wait and see attitude to redoing my whole PS4 game on PC.
When I see egregious assumptions and crazy conspiracy theories it irritates me. Anyone who’s spent a little bit of time doing game development, or even an advanced modder knows everything I’ve posted and can attest to them.
In the past, some of the Hi-Def reworks for big budget games did actually need to have textures gone over because a decade had passed. But even in those cases sometimes they just run a batch routine to push them through photoshop to sharpen and elicit details out of the older images. Warhammer Total War went the opposite way. They decreased/compressed the size of a bunch of their textures via batch routine going from WTW 1 to WTW2 for the Mortal Empires addon and many of the dwarves look significantly worse in Warhammer 2 Total War vs. the original Warhammer Total War.
