Installation Issues with Disc Copy

Dear WarHorse Studios

Salutations from Brazil! I bought this game near the end of August 2014 and it got delivered to my house just a few hours ago (with a import tax fee more expensive than the declared goods, thanks DHL) and it looks fantastic and I’m dying to try it out but I’m having the following issue:

I don’t have a Disc Drive on my Computer, and I want to do the installation through my discs - my internet is horrible and downloading 31 gb would take forever. So what did I do, I booted a older computer, plugged it into my network and copied the discs’s contents to my gaming set on my bedroom and tried installing from there.

So what happens is that:

  • if I run the Setup from the KC:D Disc 1 content folder, eventually the Steam installer asks me to put in Disc 2. If I swap the folder names so that the installation folder (the directory steam expects the disc drive to be) points to the folder with the contents of the Disc 2 and click “ok”, the installation immediately asks me for Disc 3 and so forth. Once the installation Successfully concludes, the game starts downloading at about 3.1 gb mark.
  • If I put all the packed files together and fiddle with the sku.sis file to make it so that the game has 1 disk (to try and make it install everything on one go), Steam won’t ask me for disk 2 or 3 but will finish the installation nevertheless just as in the aforementioned case, and will behave like so - hitting play will start the download at about 3.1 gb mark.

I’m thinking about trying to boot the installation straight out of the shared network drive and see what happens - things should work, they should just be slow as hell. But meanwhile, if anybody could tell me how to install things straight from my filesystem, that’d be aweeeeesome.

Cheers!

Update and shameless bump:

I tried fiddling with the sku.sis file to set it marked as a BackUp and tried to restore the game as if it was a back up.

this time it stopped the installation on the 2.8 gb mark before it started downloading again.

Lawd help me ‘-’

Soooo, here’s another update.

I tried installing the game on my old computer that has a DVD ROM drive and… it behaved exactly like as if I was installing from my filesystem.

What’s going on, Warhorse?

Does the game even install from the disks? Did anything broke it?

Cheers,

Alex.
