Is KCD going to be a more of a open world game?

Or story based game with not much openworld feature in it like mafia 2? after reading that blog relating to mapsize i realised its probably going to be more about storytelling because they tried their best to make this game historical accurate, even if that means many points of interest had to be placed in the margin of the map. But still the open world feature looks promising.

i guess we wouldnt know until the game comes out, but what’s your expectation? would you be disappointed if the story is pretty good, but you can’t kill anyone in town or disobey the law or you get killed immediately like in the witcher? sorry for my bad english, hope you can understand me

FAQ: You described the game also as a sandbox but how much sandboxy is going to be? Can I buy castles or run an army for example?

Many people wonder how much of a sandbox our sandbox is going to be. You will be able to solve quests in multiple ways, kill most of NPCs or influence their day/night cycles. We have a complex system of reputation, relationships and law. You can influence local economy to an extent (price of goods).

The player’s character is going to have a place to stay and live, but you will not be able to buy and sell real estate. Nor you can control other characters. Companions/henchmen have their own AI and they are quest-specific. Your character will develop relationships with NPCs.

yeah i saw that, i say that explanation is ambiguous, you can kill most NPCs in GTA, or the withcer, or even assassin’s creed, but that doesn’t really affect the game world. Personally i wouldn’t call that a sandbox.

that has no relevance to whether the game is a sandbox or not. and you said it was ambiguous, so what makes you think that contrbiutes to the game not being a sandbox?

Kill most NPC in Witcher? Really? I played another game then. So as with AC. Did you ever tried to kill civilian in AC? KCD will not be new GTA 5, more like Witcher.

I think you got it spot on in the first post. Seems to me way too many people expect this to be Mount & Blade: Medieval Europe: Bigger Than Daggerfall: The Game: The Subtitle. Hence all the suggestions about becoming a powerful lord, a crafty merchant, or hiring your own armies. Whereas the map size and what little info is available all point out to exactly what you said, a much more compact, story driven game, albeit in open world surroundings. Less Skyrim and more Witcher 2, except with the ability to chop up innocent bystanders.

@Freix, isn’t the FAQ an amazing thing? So many things can be answered/make people beginning imagining the possibilities that are within this world.
