Is the alpha update out yet?!

Especially Dan
Just kidding. Just keep up the good work, I can wait
Like it’s said: It’s done when it’s done!

Combat will most likely be the last feature to be implemented as it’s very complex in terms of weapon types and pairings. Every pairing (sword vs sword, sword vs axe, axe vs. axe …) is a single constellation. So you have more than just generic weapon attack and blocking animations that you have in many other RPGs and melee combat action games, each weapon has several attack, block and parry types for each pairing.

The only combat-like feature will be archery. Maybe they did some improvements there.

Isn’t that instrumental? LOLOLOL

I am so sorry guys :frowning: :frowning: :(… don’t expect the Update today :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

The builds are totally messed up… every fix causes another crash… nothing works properly… … today is a bad day!

as long as I can play it this year its totally fine, been following the project since february so one or two days dont matter at all

I know the feeling, sometimes those little dwarfs inside those machines & programs are not cooperating at all

hopefully this experience will get you closer to more stable releasing process later/closer to the deadline!

Good Luck!

Do not worry - take all the time you need!
And thanks for this nice picture in Twitter of a psychedelic village

Some tweets from The Master…

Which idiot decided that we will release alpha every two months!? ... Oh it was me... :/

So, no release today as well. Still lot of issues never seen before. As always.

It's extremely hard to release stable build so often during development of core features :|

You can see other new things in the pictures!!

HEY!!! Dont worry, Jeez guys dont stress about it so much, next time just set a later date, and if you manage to get it before for people it will be a pleasant surprise and you guys wont have to stress about not releasing it on the day you said you will. Just take it easy guys! I love you, and the game!

Don’t worry. It is the same for nearly every development of any product.
Good thing is that these errors were found already in compiling the alpha stage. Imagine this would happen when compiling the gold version
-> Personally, I would really love to see the 0.2 version before christmas. But if it ain’t possible it would not be a huge prob. This way I would have more time with family >_<

See? This is why wise men only start playing with the beta, so they will still have an intact and functional nerve system by the time the actual game arrives.

I understand this Project as a long long way. Sometimes fast and sometimes like today very slow.
But those guys give us the Chance to be a part it.
Yes this means not only good days.
I’m looking Forward. :sunny:

is it cold in your office ? russian hat indoors ? really ?

cumans stole the heating

dan just carries on watching it :stuck_out_tongue:

I think that this is foreseeable so maybe you should announce the alpha one week later than you set the deadline internally. I programmed a bit in my life and although I don’t look at me as an idiot I often failed in a single case without knowing why. And so one sits on a bug for a week while the whole procedure took 4 hours. So I would at least put a one week buffer within the dates to prevent yourself from such a hurry, especially right before christmas.

no worries. I know you guys tried hard. Enjoy time with the family - it is a game and it can wait a little while.

@TobiTobsen or maybe @Hellboy
"every 2 months"
I think 3 month are a better date/deadline :sunny:

Bells will be ringing, the glad, glad news,
We’ll have Alpha for Christmas, we won’t have the blues.
Our hope isn’t gone,
We’re Alpha friends,
And we’ll play Alpha, oh Alpha, once again.

there is a reason they are called deadlines - the dates are dead and gone once the line is written down.
