Is the game really THAT broken? i dont think so

First point I want to make is that im not a ‘fan boy’. Im just an honest, casual mature PS4 player that had been looking forward to a game that didn’t need me to grind for weeks to get the latest weapon so I can be competitive.

I pre ordered the game a few months back but had been reading the forum since then. After the game was released the comments made me cautious about downloading it and playing it. Should I wait for the patches etc. It took me a week to start playing after the initial patches had hit as I was nervous about having my long wait ruined by a sub standard product

Ive got to say, it’s a really great game. I don’t understand the ‘game is broke, give me my money back’ comments as nearly every game ive played has had similar comments made at some point. Just moving around the countryside, birds tweeting, sun shining, it’s truly gorgeous. Minor pop up /tearing issues aside ive been truly immersed in the game.

My only comments on improvement or things that Im finding hard to think around are;

Ive used Henry to rob and pillage nobles houses to gain Groschen. Sometimes ive had to do a mercy kill. Hes a real nasty piece of work in reality. Yet, when it comes to cut scenes, hes like a bumbling bafoon (like hes clearly meant to be). The players adopted playstyle and warhorses character design don’t always seem to match and it creates some strange situations. I generally try and click through the cut scenes now, just picking up the info on the quests that I need.

Some NPCs create unfair /broken situations. Eg Kunesh in Rattay – if you argue with him and say you could beat him up if you wanted to, he immediately goes into attack mode. As soon as that starts hitting you, the guards come and arrest you. He walks free.
‘are you pulling my pizzle – after what you’ve done around here’ – good system but it’s a bit to strict. Word spreads faster than you can walk sometimes. I commit a crime lockpicking in the custodians house in Sassau. By the time ive walked straight back to infirmary, the monk there knows all about my crime and wont train me.

Sometimes the clothes get a bit too dirty, too quickly. Im forever washing just to keep my charisma as high as I can.

All fairly minor, even lock picking isn’t a game breaker for me. Totally binged on the game at the weekend and overall I think it’s a superb game for an ‘older’ player and don’t want to rush through it so have been trying to focus on side quests. My Fortnite loving teenage son on the other hand thinks it’s the most boring game hes ever seen (which is a relief!)

Hilarious!

All saves corrupted. Constant crashes. Unbeatable quests if certain conditions are met. Yes, kind of broken in places.

I had the same views as you until I got about 40 hours in towards the second half of the campaign

I’d seen no major bugs or glitches, as soon as I got further in and after the patch there were tons of issues. Most of the later main quests are bugged to the point you have to find unofficial work arounds where you’re basically cheesing the game and the game starts crashing every 20 minutes. buildings not rendering in for 5 minutes not to mention many others.

I loved the game and i’ve now completed it but part of me wishes I’d waited and played the game once it was really complete and void of major problems. I had to skip some really good quests because of the negative effects they’d have on your game’s performance and corrupting your saves

I haven’t experienced any game breaking bugs so far but many annoying ones, plenty of visual glitches, traders not selling because he’s still standing around shouting for blood even though the quest is long completed and some others I don’t quite remember. As long as they keep patching the game however i’ll give warhorse a pass since a somewhat realistic RPG that portrays the middle ages in a somewhat realistic manner is very rare in modern gaming.

my game is broke. every time I untie hans from a tree in the woods, my screen goes black with a spinny loading wheel. ive tried everything to get around it. main questline stopped. game. broke.

This game is not “that” broken. It’s unfinished, it’s different.
Even the developers said that they wanted more time to polish the game.

Most part of bugs are related to untested mechanics or quest. It’s different because “broke” means that a thing doesn’t work at all (I.E the artificial intelligence on many games, or FPS instable).
In this game many features were added…but it’s understandable that don’t work properly, because they don’t fit with the rest of the game (i.e in some quest npc dies event if they are important part of that, and you will never complete the quest). So as trigger R2 for ps4 (you can’t say that you ddidn’t notice that during the tests…)

everything you just said has nothing to do with why my game is broke

can you not reload a previous autosave?

PS4 player, History- Gamer for almost 40 years, mostly RPG ?, Work in QA Games (unrelated). Loaded latest update. Three things I noticed in the first 3 hours of play: 1. Got stuck in Sasau swordsmith area, could not get out door, have been there 5+ times before. 2. I came up on 3 Cumins/Bandits (C/B) attacking people on road, there was a camp of Cumins/Bandits to the right that appeared to not be involved. I attacked the C/B on road and killed them with average difficulty. I headed for the camp I ended up killing 5 C/B, 3 of them when they came to attack me just stopped and let me kill them? 3. game crashes more often.
Savior Schnapps - Poach > Cook/Sell meat > rinse and repeat. Buy all Savior Schnapps sold from vendors. You will have enough to save when you need too. If your skilled enough to Choke out the Dumbass Knights that are always stopping you on the road. You don’t even have to fight them. you can loot them for 3k+ in groschen.

Face it, some people have bugs and others don’t.

The difference is some people with bugs don’t have perspective and act like jerks.

Wait? I am a jerk because a game I purchased crashes constantly, saved games will not load, character keeps getting stuck, broken quests can not be progresses in, game mechanics are broken or inconsistent…I could go on and will not list specific instances as they have been mentioned may times on these boards. I truly see the brilliance of this game, but as it was released–on PS4 at least, it is unplayable.

I have reinstalled the game several times and have gotten well into the story only to constantly get stuck. I am not a JERK–I just want the game to work properly!

Broken quests that I know of… Trying to get the 3 nightingales can bug out and the traps do not show up even though there is a quest marker for them, also loading a save after getting the 3rd nightingale will glitch out the dialogue when you go to turn in the quest resulting in Henry just standing there in the dialogue screen. The quest from the huntsman in Talmberg is bugged if you go through with the full quest resulting in a never ending load screen. The house of God quest after turn in can really break the game resulting in ridiculous load times and dialogue load times for the rest of the game. All objectives cannot be completed in The Kings Silver quest. These are the ones I know off the top of my head and have avoided so far this play though.

Funny, I don’t seem to recall mentioning you at all. In fact, I didn’t even say that all people with bugs are acting like jerks. I said some are.

Insecure much.

Well, at least he’s not cursing now.

Can somebody get him a box of crayons and a coloring book?

I am over 100 hours in. I have seen/had 3 crashes and a handful of bugs. Most of which are comical. a few reloads due to bugged quests. Yet i have not seen a single one of these supposed gamebreaking bugs. The monestary quests popping up is a bit annoying. But not gamebreaking.

How many hours are you inside? Start is too scripted and some limitation are annoying, but its working… but when will enjoy real open world and try to some side quest and mix them with story… you will probably see, or you would have to be very lucky… 1 of 20 players on steam completed the game and i bet that most of them encountered some heavy bugs too…
