Kingdom Come is using the CryEngine 3 (which is called the 4th generation since version 3.6), but after the years there’s a CryEngine 5 available with its full source code for free!!! It supports VR, Vulkan and DirectX 12 API and additional improvements. I mean there are other games that got an engine update and I’m sure Kingdom Come would look even better with CryEngine 5 or run smoother with the same visuals.
You can’t blame everything on the engine. Poor coding & optimization play a big role in this too.
