Jousting, melee & range tournaments and/or other 'mini games' that allow for gaining of prestige and money

Pretty much as the title suggests, will jousting/melee/archery tournaments be in the game (or anything else) that will allow you to gain prestige and money?

Also, what would you like to see in the game as a mechanic to gain money?

I am just gonna post the same thing as I did in ā€˜ā€˜What do you wanna see in the game’’ topic.

Personally I don’t like the idea of an actual arena as seen in other games. A tournament used to be a big event, being held on special occasions only. IMHO If anything should be accessible throughout the game, it should be just some kind of training ground.

Gain Money with a Profession is always good.
As an example, a blacksmith could sell his goods on a market…or something like that

IIRC Warhorse have said that they are considering tournaments, but that it’s a bit hard to justify them in the middle of a civil war. Of course, I guess you could always stage ā€˜unofficial’ fighting bouts…

I’m wondering how they’re going to implement the bard class. I’ve seen many MMOs offering a bard class (or similar musical class) but they usually were not meant to be getting money via their talents. Instead they had magical powers to increase stats of themselves or their companions which should actually not going to happen in KCD.

I wish. The epoch matches to the time that tournament and jousting were celebrated but as has been said, that’s hard to be credible with the story.

Even so, I hope they can introduce it in the game like a extra in online mode or justified in the story.

Regards

Earning money as a bountyhunter could be fun. Also, being a merchant and carry your supplies from town to town, considering the law of supply and demand (due to lack of food for example) should be very interesting.

I’d like to see a tournament on rare occasion. I’d also like to be able to come across someone and propose a friendly wager. From chopping wood faster, to shooting more birds out of the sky, tighter grouping, first to hit an object, duel to first blow, foot race, horse race, joust, etc. Really there are a lot of potential ways one could make a coin or two, or lose some even.

This is a game though! I understand if you don’t want it to be part of the story mode, but it would be sweet to see it as part of a minigame type of deal outside of the story mode sort of like how Witcher 2 was.

I guess something similar to running a store and gaining money via the market can be implemented. Maybe hire people to run it and such. Though I have no clue on whether that’s historically accurate or not.

As for the jousting/archery and such, I believe that would be a great addition. Implement something where we can train to improve our skills at playing the game and gain some basic stats (+1 strength to ever 50 strikes or something. Don’t make it a big thing). Prestige would be something worth including. Adds depth to the economy and social status in the game

Though i agree that earning money as a bounty hunter could be fun, I doubt that it would make sense for the game. They said that you are clearly not some badass mofo, that runs around fighting and killing everything he sees. So I think maybe very few well positioned bounty hunting missions could be good. But if you mean anything like in RDR, I don’t think that would be too wise.

I’d love to see tournaments in some shape or form…
Now, I am not sure how feasible it is at this point.

Now, bounty hunting, selling player made wares and such should be in for immersion purposes.

Perhaps adding some of the board/dice games played in that era as minigames might not be such a bad idea.

I remember earning money with arm wrestling in the Witcher.serie. That was pretty fun! Also, if you can be a bard, it may be fun to gain money by making music for lords and ladies for example.

That was my first thought after I got over the inital exitement over the combat system. It would be a fun and immersive experience seeing as there’s little chance of gaining nobility. Merchant is a more viable way of attaining power for Act II and Act III. Also it reminded me of ā€œRise of a Merchant Princeā€ by Raymond Feist

I would love to see jousting and archery tournaments! I would just love for there to be a jousting mechanic

I would LOVE to see Jousting in this game. I think that we definitely need the option to be able to train whenever we want too, so some kind of training yard or small fighters group.

You could be sent to the enemy kingdom’s tournament, and have the task of winning and drastically reducing moral in that kingdom?

I can also see a arena of sorts, but instead of just the beat-them-up usual theme… we could add some stuff into it, such as using specific items, a time limit, 3v1, putting on a show more rather than just fighting, and different terrain types (lets not be too hasty with that last one, we don’t want this to become the Hunger Games…)

I think being able to do what ever profession you’re aiming for as a sort of job/hobby would be good. So like the others have stated, a bard singing, a smith smithing. Things like that. Personally, I’ve always been a fan of the traditional knight of the round table role, standing up for the weak and what not but doing things that knights did like jousting or arenas would be pretty amazing! That or it would be rather fun to be a tax collector and knocking on people’s doors collecting money for the king.

If they can make a thing like jousting fit within the timeframe and story, I’d be all for it. Incorporate skills like riding, balance, skill with lance and shield and so on into it. And, depending on how you do, it could be a way to boost income via tourney winnings.
