Because it does not make much sense to start working on serious optimizations before the game is finished. BTW that released beta version build that you can see is not being worked on anymore. They focus on the actual game.

No offence mate, your question is legitimate but the response to the answer is "as you would call it a “FAIL”.

I mean the answer “FAIL by FAIL” from @edmundivconqueror makes no sense and therefor is a FAIL itself.
Because this is not how its done. Thats why
I suppose WH met their minimum ‘backer requirement’ to provide something to download and an exe that runs, but that is about it. It is basically just marketing now, not about the community providing feedback on the working version anymore.
I can also see the other side, as in some respects too much beta feedback is a drain on the company resources. But as mentioned above, the current “beta” (used loosely in this context) and dev’m cycle release is not what most expected.
