Soldiers are actually scripted to run in formations, in all battles I fought, but after meeting in close combat, they just lock onto each other.
What I meant was, there were scenes of warriors on horseback, melee in open field, however battles they presented are smaller in numbers, which is not a problem, horseback combat is simplistic, you are not able to lock on enemy, enemies do not use horses, especially fighting on horseback. Ashes DLC did not mess anything for me.
Yes, here they are, in the Kickstarter Trailer (until 2:24):
They instantly lose the formation after arriving, itâs a messy melee, not medieval military combat/strategy⊠Itâs a pity, I hope they manage to make it at some point.
With messing the game I mean v.1.6 patch, causing bugs (e.g. no dirt in armour) as trade-off for releasing FTAs DLC.
Yeah, that seems like battle AI formations to me on the horizon, and the player in a few duels, probably due to being the last soldiers in their squadron.
Large battles were the biggest disappointment for me.
Not at release because by then I was quite sure we wonât see actual large-scale battles.
When I saw the Kickstarter trailer I was like: Wow how the hell they want to do this.
I thought they are developing some special technology to make it possible. Than the Beta came out and I started to be really suspicious, because it seemed their approach was: we spawn lot of NPCs and hope it will work somehow.
In the end we got like 10 vs 10 battles which is a joke if you compare it with Kickstarter trailer where it looks almost like 500 vs 500 in some scenes.
But my real disappointment was how Warhorse handled it. I asked multiple times before release about large battles and was completely ignored, and they never mentioned large-scale battles again, like that they never promised them.
I would be Ok with it, if they would address it, apologised and said why they were not able to deliver (like they did with blacksmithing and dog companion)
Must read? So i read. Oh boy. After several months KCD isnât even finished because still exist bugs destroying the pleasure from the game and you want talking about ideas??? Letâs talk about it at the real time - around 2020
It is same as in-game, despite this is not actual scene. I do not what is with your formations.
It looks like 100 vs 20.
Well, I guess that youâre aware that during history, there were different military strategies to fight in organised groups against enemies to increase the chances of surviving. Unless youâre a mob without any military training, youâll fight in organised ranks, flank the enemies through groups strategy/army and so on. However, they fight in-game as a mob in 1vs1 fights (which I love, combat is great for that proportions but not in a battle), which not only is not historically accurate and suicide strategy, but a very poor gameplay mechanic/AI, and not what they were trying to achieve.
I just saw the documentary and there was not a single mention to self-criticism, about promises/mechanics/gameplay not achieved⊠I fully respest Warhorse, they deserve respect for being stubborn and courageous, but letâs face reality as well. They succeed, we love the game, but they still need to work very hard for reaching what they were trying to achieve, and recover their transparency/humbleness in communication.
Wholeheartedly agree, and the last part is the main reason Iâve started to cut back on participation here
Still find it frustrating when I try to help guards and then they break from tactical advantage (eg 2 vs 1) to engage a different enemy NPC 1 vs 1. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. During main battles at Pribyslavitz, Vranik and Talmberg, you can cross the T and harvest the flanks because thereâs such poor formation awareness
I also have a few ideas i could add, i know coming up with ideas is one thing but realizing them is another. However i believe these are all in the realm of possibility.
-Giving alms to beggars, you are a knight after all and they are your people from skalitz, this would help you establish a relationship with your people and actually care about the beggars instead of trying to run them over with your horse cough i didnât do it.
-Sitting down in taverns and whistle at the ale maids to bring you some (insert favorite alchoholic beverage here) with your mug in your hand like the npc does, this is solely for roleplayers such as myself. Some animation work is needed.
-Torunaments for fighting, no further explanation needed.
If they make KCD2, I would appreciate if they let players travel back to Sasau region or at least allow them to import your Henry to another game, of course with condition to own both games. I think it might be nice to travel back and forth especially after mods will be supported and modders may create more sandbox things in the old KCD world.
If a KCD 2 is realized, Iâd like the option to keep Henryâs stats, if Henry remains the main character in 2.
that would make the game better. i like all these ideas. id love to be able to buy scabbards. i love the game but its missing so many cool little things. i always and still wish this was a feature, i want to bring armor to sasau to have it etched. One can only wish.
Etching wasnât used on armor until around 1490, sorry. Wrong end of the 15th century for etched armor. Engraved, yes. Etched, no.
Yes for this one
Alongside many of the other valuable points mentioned here, Iâd love to see the option to actively repair/patch your clothes, shoes, armour and weapons, rather than simply using various âkitsâ.
Also, apologies for being new to the forum, whatâve I missed about WH needing to recover transparency and reputation? Can someone clue me in to this documentary too pls?
Cheers x
On CampingâŠIf we canât get the kit to setup camp anywhere we please, maybe just make all of the existing camping sites fire pits usable.
Skinning cutscenes would be great they could angle the camera away, do a black screen then replace the body with one of the butcher skinned animals would work for deer at least.
Campsite or sleeping bag absolutely would make saviour schnapps useless which would be perfect as saviour schnapps is awkward in the first place.
Everything else would be more work than itâs worth for this specific game, but for the future they would be great additions.
