Kicks While Using Weapons?

Are there any special attacks like kicks while using a weapon, such as a sword?

The reason I ask is that I can kick when unarmed, but the “Special Attack/Kick” key does nothing when I have a weapon, such as a sword, axe, etc. equipped and I want to make sure it’s not because I rebound my keys back when the game first released.

My keys are as follows: “Block” is now bound to “RMB”, “Thrust” is on “Mouse5”, “Special Attack/Kick” is on “Mouse4”. “LMB” is unchanged.

For reference, I have not completed Ginger in a Pickle yet, so I’ve only completed the basic training with Captain Bernard and since a lot of the game’s functions are tied to actually being trained on how to do them, like Perfect Block, Riposte, etc. I just assumed that the “Special Attack” description in the settings would follow later, after I progressed further (which, for me at least, hasn’t been possible since v1.2.5).

If I have any of the keys or verbiage incorrect it’s because I haven’t played in several weeks and I’m currently unable to access KCD on my gaming PC for reference, so I’m basing this post off of memory.

No kicking. You can engage in a grapple that ends in one of two animations, one being a close quarters face punch of sorts and one being a shove/kick back, but you cannot kick like you can when fist fighting…you can also learn combos with each weapon that have unique animations and there are special animations for a “master strike”; if you don’t know how to do these go see Cpt Bernard outside the North gate of Rattay after you help him and his boys in Neuhof(not sure if you can visit him before then) but he’ll teach you moves and you can practice on him unlimited for free and get lots of xp from it

Alright, so my key rebinding didn’t break anything. Thanks! Hopefully they’ll release a patch that actually fixes things soon instead of breaking more of the game and I will be able to get back to playing.

For me, on Xbox One, I initiate a grapple by closing distance and mashing block…once the animation for the clinch starts I mash either slash or stab…it appears if I mash stab I do the face punch and if I mash Slash I do a shove/kick…not sure if PC is different then Xbox but go see Cpt Bernard for some east training and try it out…once you get it it really helps, especially since they beefed up combat a bit it seems enemies block better so I just clinch them for a little opening for another attack. Good luck!
