Killing fleeing enemies question

Does anyone find it difficult dealing with enemies who run away? I’ll have cumans surrender, I’ll try to kill them while on their knees, it doesn’t take them out and then they run where it’s difficult to catch them. You can tackle them but by time you swing your sword, they are gone again and I’m running half way across the world to catch these bastards :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
I know I can shoot them with an arrow but my skills still aren’t that good yet. Is there a trick to killing them while they’re surrendering?

aim for the head or back of the neck. Mace does wonders as well as an arrow to the head at point blank range.

Stab (rabbit stab is best; perk enabled) or shoot - neck/shoulder

I find the speed of the NPCs in full armor to be pushing credibility. Adds challenge to my horse archer battles atop Jenda but still :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I was laughing reading this post because only yesterday I was on one of such races against a darn cuman who tried to kill me and then run away when I beat him. Of course, I’m not even 10 hours into the game and my skills aren’t that good yet, so I can relate. After reading the other comments, I’ll try to reach for my bow faster next time!

Heh, this particularly drove me nuts on time while hunting with Hans. One of the cumans was an archer, and we had a small archer battle. He got so wounded he fled, and was so far away that I couldn’t reach him. Eventually he disappeared outside of the area I was able to go (you’re unable to leave the vicinity of Hans), and because the quest required you to kill all the cumans in the camp, I couldn’t even speak to Hans, and was trapped for eternity in that small section of forest.

Anyway, I usually deal with them by getting on my horse and swinging at them wildly with whatever weapon I have handy. Most of the time if they’re solo it’s not necessary as I have the sprinter perk, though.

I dismounted and went stabby stabby… took an arrow from the Cuman in question… bastard

Yep…lose them almost all the time.
I chased one yesterday halfway cross Sassau forest and then into an open field.
By the time I call Pebbles and mount, he disappeared.
Where is it these MFers can hide in an open field?

Basically you aren’t fast enough or have low energy. Wear less heavy shit and wear no or light armour. Get perks to increase it.

I haven’t really dealt with many perks yet…I’ll have to check into some of them. Too many times I’ve had cumans surrender or are close to death on the ground only to see one flee, and of course I can’t let him go so I chase him to cut him down only to find the other ones have escaped. I get back to the camp and just sit on a log and wallow in my disappointment :expressionless: damn cumans lol
Thanks for the reply’s guys.

Sprinter, not marathon man. That is all i can say. Once your vitality is up to 20 you will thank me because your stamina lasts a long time already, so having that 20% makes is easy to chase down and kill them. Make sure your weapon is out, and use the tackle function from behind, 2 hits usually does them in. Someone above mentioned a mace, that is the best in the game, otherwise an axe if you have one. Sword isn’t good for tackling but it will work if thats all you got.

I just chase them down on my horse.

not 100% sure but think game might count surrender kills as killing civilians. i never kill townpeople. inadvertently shot and killed a trader or two battling bandits/Cuman (missed the target :sob: ) before i gave it up. so the civilian kill can only be due to surrendering Cuman/bandits. playline 1 Henry hasn’t learned to turn the other cheek with Cuman (can’t tie them up and turn them in, and not going to let them roam free)

Cannot forget nor can forgive!

I don’t know if it works for all bandit situations, but at least those based in camps seem to come back after a bit, if they happen to get away from you.

some on the road one will but not all. if they run far enough to despawn they’re gone
