Knight Duel Wayfarer Encounter

Couldn’t find anything on this specific question so just listing it here

That dueling knight you meet at the random wayfarer encounter mentions owning a horse amongst other assets (like his superior armor). He wagers his armor v your 250 gold to duel since he has everything except money. Regardless of whether you beat him or not, there is no sight of a horse on the horizon.

Followed him for a good while after Henry’s first encounter (where the knight won). But after 5 real mins, it was clear this Knight was headed no where in particular. So I finally had Henry sneak up on him and knock him out. Looted his gear/equipment, and a nice 250+ gold cache among other things. But no deed, letter, or any inclination of ownership this NPC ever had a horse?

Has anyone received a different outcome to this encounter? Or is this NPC comment just a nothing burger?

He has silver spurs.
To take back my honor after losing a duel to him, I sneaked up, knocked him out and robbed him. I saw him again and had one dialogue option to choose “We have met before, haven’t we?”. But after my phrase the dialogue interrupts. So, in order to take back my honor, damaged by him not willing to talk to me, I sneak up, knock him out and rob him. Now I have 3 sets of silver spurs, but haven’t really looked for his horse (even in my thoughts) until I have read your post.

Well thanks for that. Yeah I got his spurs too. Stored it in Henry’s chest (along with that horse decorative cover that he gets as a thief quest reward from the Miller). Will wait until he gets a saddle and saves up enough gold to buy a proper war horse from the stables in Ulitz (can’t spell the town name lol). Then treat his mount to all of that.

There’s a quest where you can win a saddle which is supposed to be “the best”. It involves a race against multiple NPC on horseback, which is very nice. But after finishing first and getting back to Zora (who gives you the quest at the Uzhitz stables) she gives you 150 groshen instead of the saddle, which isn’t very nice. Anyway, you can still sell goods to her and gather up money enough for a saddle. She ususally carries more gold, than other merchants I’ve stumbled upon.

I always duel, win nowadays, then stealth choke him out, for the skill xp for stealth  … Best rpg feature ever, stealth take downs

Only knight encounter I had was the cowardly one whose mom wanted him to find a virgin and earn glory in combat.

I told him that maybe there was a virgin in a nearby village. Sorta wanted to kill him for his armour though. Didn’t though because my Henry is pretty noble (aside from stealing food.)

Oh yeah. I’ve heard about that bug. Trying to avoid playing that as long as possible to give the devs time to address that in a future patch. Not too optimistic of that happening in future though…

Agreed. All that’s needed to refine this is a TESO Dark Brotherhood style Blade of Woe assassin animation.

There’s no sin in a sneaky knock out. Knight lives. Henry’s assets and bank accounts are that much greater. Win - Win situation. Especially given the fact all that armor and weaponry is completely wasted on that clueless Knight to begin with.

They’re called random for a reason.

I mean I don’t get any random encounters at all when fast travelling and when riding around I only find common wayfarers. Early in the game I was ambushed once and ssw some cumans in the woods killing some traders (this was a week ago) after that it’s only been common wayfarers and I been playing this game every day I’m lvl15 and I know that it’s not normal not getting any random encounters, i can fast travel from one side of the map to the other and not find anything but common wayfarers and if i fast travel i find nothing at all!

Do you fast travel often? If not thats probably the problem. They are also only on the roads

Danny, my boy, “Wayfarer” can be a mercenary with a 50 groshen bet to fight him. “Wayfarer” can be a knight, a beggar looking for food, or a fake trader which is only a bandit luring you into getting off your horse in order for his buddies to come out of the bushes and kick your behind. I even got a “Wayfarer” which was The Riddler with a 10 groshen bet on solving a riddle about candles, which I didn’t solve. I have also encountered “Foe” when I was fast travelling back the where I came from, after I ran from enemies in the location I fast traveled to. And I have encountered “Carcass” which is probably the carcass of an animal, and when you come to pick up the meat - a guy comes out of the woods and tries to get money from you, so he doesn’t tell everybody you’re poaching… The fact that a game has bugs doesn’t mean there are no bugs between the monitor and the chair.

Of course he owns a horse…and many NPCs are riding horses in this game too.

That dueling knight is heavily bugged, if you beat him once, he gives you a nice chest armor but if you encounter him again, you can wager for ANOTHER armor. Isn’t he is supposed to only have one ?
Also if you knock him out during combat, when he wakes up, he says he won the fight and takes your 250G …

i just talked him out of it, kocked him out and took his stuff. got good armor, didnt lose any gold. got lucky i guess

All I find is NPCs called wayfarers which are randomly generated characters and the only thing you can do them is pickpocket, knock you, kill and loot. And they only show up when you’re travelling around (not fast travelling) when fast travelling nothing shows up at all
