That is true.
But I still think something like this won’t make it to the game.
There will be still some modding comunity though. So I think it is possible:) With modding comunity everything is possible:D
Well, capes are really good idea, but I’m afraid that the biggest problem here is the proper simulation of capes. That doesn’t mean just animation when character moves, but also for example when wind blows and etc. Cape simulation is much harder than for example flag simulation, because it has to react on the physic of the body and so on. Another thing is, as someone mentioned before, capes weren’t mere piece of fabric, but they have some weight which again influence the animation. And I doubt that CryEngine has some tools for that, therefore WH would have to write their own tools for it. I bet that the price of cape system would be worth another 100 000 £.
is this what you are locking for?
one question spring to mind, is cape realistic for non-nobles? i think the traveler’s hood, in the picture above, is good for commoner to knight level characters, which you will play.
I don’t see why a simple cloak isn’t viable for non-nobles. Not necessarily a fur lined thing made of silk, a simple piece of materiel clasped around the shoulders isn’t too far fetched.
Hmm, expert opinion here:
Haha i forgot how good that movie is. I still want my cloak though.
Capes are always good, but good physics are needed. Making capes something more than just garments, and making them usable in combat or throwing them away before a duel would be great. :
Capes would be great, as long as they fit within the setting and tone of the period. Capes with physics would be even better, but I don’t expect that would be an easy thing to do and have it look good, as most physics-based capes I have seen in games had major issues with clipping or glitching which detracts from the immersion.
Cape physx anyone?
Capes are not a good idea in a fight.
Not a good idea if you don’t use them properly. As pretty much everything in life. On the other hand…
I didn’t really mean that capes should be used for combat. Capes were worn as fashion back then, so I think they would be a cool thing to show your pride in front of lower class men.
Also, in the character customization trailer, Daniel said that the characters will wear those half-shirt things to show their social status. Capes would be a really cool add-on or replacement, No?
Of course they would be cool as a clothing accessory, I think pretty much everyone agrees on that. But since they could be much more than that, we’re exploring and giving feedback on using them in combat as well. Maybe we should start a thread in the Combat System section…
I would like to see them but they would have to be accounted for in the actions and presentation of battle. It would be cool to have an option to drop it when the battle begins but it would also be interesting to see someone using it to distract an opponent if they had a one handed weapon and the cloak in the other.
they weren’t used in combat.
YES PLEASE! It would also be awesome if the capes would be realistic and move when the character is in action, not just like a metal sheet that doesn’t get affected by player movements
Well, I’ll jump on the bandwagon here. I agree that capes would look very good, and the idea of having it as a social symbol is great. I do however agree that they would be something that would hinder performance in battle. As I don’t really have any suggestions at the moment, it would be neat if the developers found a good way to implement something such as this.
I agree, capes are awesome.
I support this, but they would have to be done correctly. The amount of detail that I think would have to be put into something like this would have to be a lot. Similar to the detail in the Batman games.
