Let There be CAPES

No capes in combat.
Capes, coats and cloaks for bad weather, yes.

But not in combat.

Absolutely! Cloak conjures the thought of invisibility, silence and stealth. All the best parts of a great RPG, especially if you favor the thief class, hehehe.

Now you got me wanting to do a little pickpocketing!

Capes sound like an excellent idea to add, but would serve as nothing but a hindrance in battle. Someone could grab your cape, pivot you around and slit your throat!

Or you could throw the cape on him, pivot him around and slit his throat!

I don’t think so. Try it in real life. You can flip things with your cape, you can get stuck. Wind can easily reveal you. Also hood will seriously hinder your sight and hearing. Image of thief with hood and cape is totally unrealistic. Hood may have only one advantage: people around can’t see your face. But also hood is intended for rainy days and if you are wearing it during sunny day… well, it’s at least suspicious.

Capes yes. In combat? No, nobody used them for that in 1403.

Awesome cloaks with hoods too please - we need our bad-assery.

In this particular instance I was referring generically to cloaks and RPGs in general, not specifically as it would relate to this game. I totally agree with you regarding a thief raising suspicion walking around with a cloak/hood in broad daylight, but typically even today most thieves want to conceal their identity in some way

I’d love to have a cloak with hood when it starts to rain and its pretty cold especially when the seasons change to winter and you are freezing

But I don’t know if it have been rude to have something like that in cities where mostly nobles where wearing them as a symbol of their status. But on your travels it would be an enrichment but on the other hand I don’t even know if there will be seasons in the game or if it will be something like cold and rainy weather.

This. Having to think a second time what to wear before mounting on your horse and beginning your travels is pretty nice.

I agree! Throwing the cape right before a duel is an awesome touch.

Make the capes flow!

Not likely, the espada ropera was developed in Spain in the late 15th century, and the various methods of combat involving this weapon, including the cloak, came later. At least so in the modern incarnation, some reference to it in the classical era.

That aside this was not the case in Bohemia. Different culture, cloaks are just to keep the wet out and warmth in.

Its the same problem they have with long hair I assume.
