LIVE video remarks

I want to start with:
OH MY GOD ITS AWESOME!!!

There is a lot of work and i see some blind spots, but the countryside is totally awesome, and the TREES? Like we are there…

few thinks i disliked:
First of all, so many trolls in the discussion, and thanks that you noticed that…

in the beginning, the girl cleaning in the house - soo much dust.
regarding the terrain. will there be footsteps in the mud?! You went for a huge bite with medieval times, there is mud everywhere, and you have to deal with it with 3D footsteps, muddy shoes and clothes, etc. Finally an atmospheric place for a tons of tesselation to make two Titans sweat.
then, still floating cloth, but i expect this is just a placeholder for physics calculated cloth alignment.
ad horses: should ho slowly over rocky terrain, jump over puddles, and should only come after whistling when they are close, not to spawn behind the corner. and should devour grass etc when idle.
hens as well, one of them was walking through the puddle. and they should run away faster and jump sometimes, spreading wings.
when testing the bow and aiming on a person - he could hear you and then see you and seeing you aiming on him? I thing he should have noticed you.
and the inventory… is it possible make it a minigame? because you cannot just Ctrl+F your backpack when talking about realism  Especially not during some combat etc. But as players have seen, there is some sort of slow-motion, so MP is totally off the table.

And last point: THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO and KEEP GOING!
You say you are a small team. I have lot of experience with gaming and strong attention to detail. And a passion for this project. I want to JOIN you - even for free, because i really wish this game became a LEGEND. Thanks for hearing me out.

you have nasa computer?

Also, I’d love to be able to switch off that compass thingy, definitely seemed pretty immersion breaking to me, and orientation using sun/landmarks etc. really shouldn’t be that difficult

You know that was an early build about year old, not even alpha, right? Keep your dislikes on alpha version at least …

@Prostetnik maybe you will able to turn it off. And for us others, please, do not make it real life simulator. It’s still suppose to be a fun, a game.

Looking good and can’t wait to explore the territory.
However -
Bow animation looked too weak, to draw a bow, and especially one for hunting or war, takes effort and practice.

No. I meant that cloth is now done “just to be there”, so just weightpaint etc. Later it will be re-calculated for better positioning i guess. I did not mean to be done in realtime, but its still possible to handle it in the foreground for lets say 10 characters…

Did I miss a video somewhere? :stuck_out_tongue: Is it avaiable to watch somewhere, this stream?

Yes, I know that. These are not dislikes like “hey, you are idiots”, but “hey, did you notice?” Most of this things are related to “idea of the thing”, not to the actual content, like horses running over rocky terrain. I just want to hear “yes, we had the same ideas, it’ gonna be in the final product”. Because we (all together) can find blind spots no one thought about. Yeas, this can happen. Maybe no one realized that the horse should not ignore those small rocks? Because they are just a decoration, and may not be even visible with some low settings, and the horseriding can be develop on flat roads without these rocks. Cause its impossible for the horse to run at full speed on such rocky road we saw in the video.
To me, the road even felt a bit flooded with those rocks.

it’s the same with chickens - it’s trivial to make them spread the wings, but did it occour to some of the team (with so few members) that real chicken spreads wings when running fast? Its just a detail, but a detail to entertain you for the whole day, cause you cannot chase chicken in the real world - they are mostly closed and owners are unhappy, cause it’s reducing their income. But it is always funny and I think animals will play a big role in this medieval world.

And dogs as well. It will probably be easy to make them fetch, so you can play with them, you can entertain yourself for hours.
Or it should be possible to just walk into the blacksmiths house and offer him to sharpen all his swords, go cut some wood.
Expand your imagination

Hi, just a tiny mistake I want to mention, that I found in live stream. It is really small detail but as I was riding horse few years ago regulary, I found this mistake quite obvious and makes me a little smile.

First of all, I definitelly do not know how it worked in medieval age, but now it is usuall that you get on the horse always from left side. It has three reason:

  1. Historically, man usually have sword on the left side so because of that it is much easier to get on the horse from left side.
  2. People are usually right handers and for right handers again it is definitelly easier to get on the horse from left side.
  3. Because of point 1 a 2, horses are accustomed to be mounted from left side and some of them can be very uneasy, when they are mounted from the right (wrong) side.

due to layering system, probably cannot get clothes to be absolutely flush with another surface. because each clothing will have to be compatible, and hard to make mantle/hood that sits right over both gambeson, armor, clothing, etc. different size, solidity, deformation variable. i think physics can be applied to those little “dags” or things hanging off the hood. maybe. less calculations that.

also, does anyone know if that radzik kouvola(sp?) is a real person?

Racek Kobyla. Yes, he is (was) real person.
