Low fps, what can I do?

Hey, I was playing the game earlier and fps was dying, so I tried turning down the settings, but its didnt really help my fps. Is their anything I can do other than getting new hardware to boost my fps? I’m almost 100% sure that the beta will have optimization and performance upgrades, so I might just wait for that

Overclock you CPU and GPU. Go for liquid cooling for both. Save some money and but Fury X. Sell your car and buy an Xeon. Sell your kidney and buy 8GB of DDR4 RAM.

For a serious help you should post your hard- and software config.
Without these infos the answers will not really fit…

Well, it doesn’t fit, but it was a funny response hahaha.
The original post should have had a description of the PC which is supporting the performance issues.

Are you kidding? Ram is too cheap to sell your kidney anymore.

Sell a few bags of blood, that’ll do it.

I have a rather antique i7-870 (2.93GHZ) with 16GB of ram and a new EVGA GTX 970 3975. GPU-Z shows that most of the time the gpu is really busy (not much of a surprise there) but the mem bus seldom goes over 10% (old 'puter with pcie 2.0 x 8 for the GTX 970). Often all eight threads are going for it at 1920x1080 with 60% cpu utilization. Yes I know, the i7-870 is about 1/2 as fast as a 4790K or 6700K but even at low graphics I’m seeing a max of 40 fps and more typically around 35. In the arena I’m only seeing around 18 fps.

Any ideas what the bottle necks are? Cpu? pcie2.0 (though with such low bus utilization I don’t think that’s likely)?

I have a 4k monitor, but I change the config to 1080p before launching the game. Could that be a problem? there are two other monitors (not used in the game - 1080p and 1920x1200) - should I disable them while playing? I do shut down most other programs before running.

Ram usage is typically 8 or 9 GB out of the 16 available (which surprises me - I’d have thought that more would be used to cache graphics data avoiding the need to fetch it from the file system.

You should definitely try to turn your extra monitors off! PCI-E 2.0 usually only causes a slight performance loss, but it probably just doesn’t work for your config :slightly_smiling:

Turning off the extra two monitors made small but noticeable difference.
