Master Huntsman

So, finally I’ve become Master Huntsman of Talmberg, and, to my surprise, Nicholas’s lodge has a couple of chests, one of which containing all his items from back when he was a merchant. Does anyone know if these items respawn? As far as I know, he was the only one selling better wounding arrows.

No, they don’t respawn.

Buy better Piercing arrow in Rattay. They are 150 to wounding 130.

Why would you buy arrows? A Cuman archer usually has enough arrows to last an entire main quest play through.

I am Picky about what I use. I want to sure of the most damage and not worry about if I have enough or find enough of the right kind. So I buy and keep at least 40. Any arrows received as loot I sell to a huntsman

Sure, you have no shortage of arrows, but note that different arrows deal different dmg.
Wounding arrows deal slashing dmg and bleeding. But they’re so ineffective against those horrid heavily armoured enemies.
Piercing arrows deal piercing (duh) dmg, and they’re really the best all-round choice, but they lack range, a negligible factor in KCD.
Likewise, if you are able to crack the conundrum of archery of KCD and can actually shoot well FROM AFAR, you’d do well to stock up on Long-distance arrows. They are able to retain their dmg at much longer ranges than any other type of arrow.
Hunting arrows, I guess, will allow you to collect more from game, if you’re into that sort of thing.

I hope this helps if anyone’s interested.

This is what I’m doing. I’m not much of an archer and in my current playthrough, I just go for better piercing ones. More dmg for less range, but since I’m not a good shot at a distance, it matters little. They are also cheaper than better long-distance ones.
I was just asking because Nicholas was the only one selling better wounding ones, and when in need of killing peasant bandits, there’s no better choice than those.

Thanks for the speedy response, I guess I’ll just leave it as it is. Too bad, though. :slightly_frowning_face:

PC or console? If PC, mods? if so look for the bow dot mod on Nexus mods site and Robinhood mod to steady your hand.
If not and want to get better the vanilla way go to the Ratty and Ushitz range and enter contests at or just below you skill. Win and you get skill point towards bow and some coin. Lose and no coin and not so much points. Keep doing it and you will raise you skill level. DO NOT do chumps in Ledetchco until you master the bow and have the best tackle.

I’ve tried both the contest and the chumps, but I can’t tell which offers the most xp… I don’t have an issue with chumps, I actually quite like it, but I’m a bit careful with advanced archery in contests… If it offers more xp, though, I’ll switch to it.
I’m on PS4, btw, thanks for all the suggestions! :slightly_smiling_face:

The Round targets are the most consistent if a bit grindy. Win: +20, lose: +5 or 10. forgot.
I made 4 levels in Ushitz that way,10-14. using beginner. ( I use the mods I mentioned but still had to have the skill to place the dot and judge the drop.).

edit: correction

20% sounds quite nice. I’ll try advanced levels later and tell you if there was anything different. But there should be, since you’re shooting more arrows at more difficult levels.
I can’t use mods, I mostly keep my eyes glued to the center of the target and it helps most of the times. Then, you just have to compensate for the tournament arrows you’re getting, since they’re shite (sorry for the profanity).

sry. more like 20 points, hence the grindy part. If it is 20% I havn’t checked.

I’ll let you know soon. :+1:

@longshot300mag
So, after finishing one advanced contest (13 arrows) first place, I went from 373 xp to 385… So, I guess the ratio, in contests at least, is 1:1, unless my testing was terribly off.
I may give chumps one try again later, but for now this is where I stand.

I see it as chumps is chance and inconsistent. Rounds as grindy but constant. I still remember getting +20 slow and steady. I am now at 20 and got part there buy decimating rabbits also.

True, maybe living targets yield more XP, makes sense. I’ll stick to this being huntsman now.

I sad to say that a large percent of the arrows in those chest I used were destoryed in 20 mintures trying to hit a deer four feet in front of me. I was terrible, then I tried to kill a rabbit which was a feet from me, it took 20 try to get it.

you are on a console? PC? If PC look up thread to my suggestions for PC.
If console the round targets method I wrote about.

Console mate, my first time I play this I was great, however since I came back for my second playthough I am terrible. I just need to get back into the system.
