Maxing out my cpu when playing, mostly in towns

Hello everyone, as the title suggest I’ve been having some issues with KCD. I’ll start off by saying the game is incredibly and I love it. The one issue I’ve been having with it is when ever I go into towns or a lot of stuff is going on, on screen my cpu fires up to 100% and freezes my PC. I can run every other game on high settings, witcher 3, bf 1, the division, etc. But when I try to run this game no matter what I do settings wise it always jumps up to 100% cpu usage for me. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

I have the exact same problem, This is the first game since i bought my computer where its struggeling to load the game, Ive read many posts that describes our problem so im sure the devs knows and are working on this problem.

I was getting a lot of 100% usage spikes that would freeze my game with windows 7. Upgraded to 10 and it stopped except for a few random 2 second freezes every once and a while.

For me it has core 1 at 100 percent. Rest much lower. Wonder why that is.

For me its the second core. It gets hammered 100% constantly

4790k here, same issue.

This is s screenshot I took yesterday.

Check the CPU Usage

This is in the worse performing area in Skalitz, the Grocers. regardless of location Core 2 gets hammered at almost 100% all the time.

lower shadows , geometry and postprocessing. enable multithread optimization from nvidia menu

I have a GTX 1080 Ti and i7 7700k. I already lowered “Shadows”, “Postprocess” and “Shaders” to High. Lowering further won’t do shit. this is a performance issue that is being reported everywhere and needs to be addressed…

well i fixed my lags that way. game was unplayable before. cpu was always 100%. I also set set multithread active and power management to max performance (from nvidia menu). Now my pc draws 30w more power but my game nolonger freezes. I play at 2k rez with gtx1070 and i5 3570k

EDIT: everything is set to ultra except shadows and volumetric effects to MAX (illumination, phisic, post processing is MEDIUM), view, grass, object distance set to farthest. U ALSO HAVE TO set motion blur off. Dont forget that… it causes the freezes when u turn view around.
Game is very playable and very good looking

multithread Optimization is set at “Auto - Default” in Nvidia menu. I will change it to ON to see if it makes a difference

The problem is I’m running an amd card so I don’t have access to the Nvidia stuff to try and optimize the game myself. And I’ve tried literally everything to get this game to run without the constant cpu lag. Like the first cuman encounter when you have to attack that large camp. It was half unplayable I couldn’t even enjoy it. It was just chugging along the entire battle. So unless someone has suggestions for amd stuff. I guess I have to wait for an optimization patch or I just won’t be able to play the game.

Same happens to me, I do use an i5 6500 processor, I know it is pretty much at the limit of the minimum required. My other specs are 1060 GTX, 16GB RAM and a 500GB samsung evo SSD. I am curious to know if I am at the bottom of my proc requirements, or if there is any chance to not have all my 4 cores at 100% in full load.

Well it seems like a lot of people even with better CPUs are even having this issue so I can only.assume that it’s an optimization problem

I’ve tried all possible settings, but as soon as I go in Rattay my CPU goes to 100% and I get 20-30 fps drops.
I really hope the new patch will fix the performance issues.

GPU: GeForce GTX 1070
CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Memory: 16 GB RAM (15.91 GB RAM usable)
HDD: SSD Samsung EVO 850

Same happened to me, the best solution so far is to use the battle encoder shirase (BES) application. Google-it or go look for in on the Nexus site. All you have to do is get inside KCD, then alt+tab and launch BES and from there select the KCD application and limit the processor to -2% … and that’s it! Alt+tab back to the game and enjoy iy, no more freezes!

sometimes this happens in towns like rattay, sometimes not. think it has to do with game preloading it versus if you just fast traveled there and the game is rebuilding the scene. usually when i sleep over in rattay inside pirkistein castle and wake up the problem is diminished, but if you ride fast to the upper castle, it will chug a bit.

How’s sprinting through rattay on horse ? Fucking damn rite broken for me, it’s like it can’t steam fast enough, soon as you stay still and let it all load the FPS goes normal, rattay is really badly optimised
