Monsters or not..?

“He’s not the Messiah - He’s a very naughty boy”

as long as there are real wild creatures, wolves, bears, wild boars, occasional tiger monkey (Bohemian man eating simian, extinct as of 1600s) I’m fine with that.

Well, they don’t have to go so far as to make a high fantasy game. What about something like this?

Nothing like this ever lived in Bohemia.

Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yeti monster npc rarely spawning in obscure locations and terrorizing villagers livestock…

I prefer not to see any monsters in KC:D, except man.Remember: homo homini lupus.

But I can imagine a questline where you have to investigate reports of a monster, with mutiple possible sources:
a) a slightly more aggressive individual of the native predator species like wolves or bears (possibly rabid)
b) made up by a person (or a group) to further egoistic goals
c) simple superstition.

And you might solve them in different ways:
a) kill the animal
b) uncover the conspiracy
c) talk sense into people
and last but not least: d) kill various animals and stitch together their bodies or parts of them, to create proof of you slaying a monster.

And i can image hunt for vampire or warewolf. People in groups with torches and pitchforks in the woods, looking into caves etc. In this era, people believed in all of this. So why not. In the end, you can end up with finding that “monster” is just an ill person with very rare decease. Well, you wouldn’t know about decease so you will end up just with “ill person”. Kill or leave him? Help him? Believe it is an abomination or ill common person? It would be interesting quest.

I suppose ‘man eating rabid’ wolf/bear would qualify as monster?

no monster, but there are wild animals like bears and wolves, boars

Lynx. Do not forget this animal, they are living in Bohemia too (or lived, but much more than now).

Monsters would ruin the spirit of the game. I’ve been longing for a game like this, total devotion to historical accuracy and very difficult at that. Monsters/unnatural creatures would be a deal breaker for me.

I could also see it leaving it kind of ambiguous where even the player isn’t sure whether he’s really a monster, mutant, or freak. Belief in magic was pretty prevalent back then, even if it wasn’t ‘real’, why would the player character know/think differently?

What about monsters which haven’t been disproved, but there is evidence of?

Why do there need to be monsters?

I thought they already mentioned not.

Ah of course you mean MAN, the most dangerous monster, no monster real or fictional has destroyed more then him

No I don’t mean man. We have been proven to exist.

Also I don’t mean the monster in my pants so don’t go there.

so, let me get that straight, no man eating Bohemian Tiger Monkey?

damn :frowning:

Very fond of this idea. Even if it ends up just being some serial killer with ignoble intentions, or twisted methodology, just because monsters didn’t ACTUALLY exist at the time does not mean that people didn’t believe in them! +1 for YOU!

This game is strictly historical. There won’t be any “monsters”, only wild real life animals…

Well, I hope there are no monsters. There are plenty of games with all kind of supernatural creatures, one of the main things that i found interesting of this game is the historical setting.
