My game runs terribly so i think of upgrading the ram from 8gb to 16gb or 12gb if it’s increase the performance
No, less RAM = more FPS!
Sorry i dont mean that bad…
You’re asking such thing if it is logical that more is better for everything on pc?
This game is very RAM heavy afaik, because it needs to save alot of things like peasants doing different shit at the time of the day etc etc.
I upgraded from 8GB to 16GB right before I installed the game.
So I cant tell if it runs better now but my bottleneck is the CPU I think
the game is also CPU demanding, if you can post your specs we could help more.
CPU=i5 6500 3.2ghz
GPU=MSI GTX 1050 2GB
RAM=8GB DDR4 Ram
similar to me. How is it working for you?
I think your GPU is too bad, RAM might not be the issue
I think cpu and ram is the bottleneck so I’m going to try to overclock both of them
I have 32GB of RAM, I have never seen KCD use more than 6.8GB even with everything set on maximum, though I do have a GTX1070 with 8GB of video RAM, so some stuff may be retained in the VRAM for longer before its cached back in the normal RAM, like textures, 3d modals, shaders and that type of thing that the GPU dose most of.
The game doesn’t use RAM effectively right now and there are fixes to help increase performance.
If you have the steam version there are actually guides out that give you launch commands based on how much RAM you have so that game will utilize more available resources so it’s not as slow.
if your referring to guides that mention heepsize etc, then that is obsolete old Valve commands for HL2 etc, which is a different game engine.
Yeah I’ve tested those in KC. At least for me, they did absolutely nothing.
So, lots of misleading informations here…
First today all, more ram doesn’t mean more FPS, it depends where your bottleneck is and whether the game can make use of the added ram. Overclocking the ram will not yield any significant results either in most cases.
More importantly, I’d depends how many ram modules you have and if they are running in dual channel or not. If they are in slots 1&3 of your motherboard, they are running in dual channel, if in 1&2 they are not and this should be changed, look at the motherboard manual to see where to plug the modules.
When you look at “8vs16gb ram” YouTube videos there is sometimes a noticeable bump in FPS. This is usually because the guy making the video has 2x8gb in dual channel, and he unplugs one module to make the test, which makes the pc run 8gb of ram without dual channel (only one module)… You’d actually often have better results when running 2x4gb vs 1x8gb (same ram type / speed implied). There is actually a YouTube video demonstrating my point, he is getting a noticeable bump at 16gb but if you look at the ram usage the game is actually using LESS ram in the 16gb config than in the 8gb one, and that’s because he is running 2x8gb and 1x8gb for this config. I bet is he used 2x4gb of the same quality as the 8gb module he’d have the same performance. This means that either the fame won’t benefit from having more ram but it may also mean they could in the future patch things to make the fame use more … not sure it’ll yield better FPS though.
Overclocking your GPU will definitely help but really your system is a bit weak for this very demanding game. I would only spend the money on ram if you have 1x8gb and buy the exact same ram to put in dual channel, if you already have 2x8gb in dual channel my bet is you won’t get much better performance with 4x4gb.
Pretty much CPU and RAM heavy… I have 12GB RAM and an I7-4770k and my cpu was always at 40-60%, my ram being 50-60% aswell.
i got 24 GB and its only using 4.25 GB at the moment. Seems like it should use way more than that if recommended is 16 GB.
