I’d recommend it if you’re not having many encounters. It’s supposed to reset the frequency to pre-1.4 levels. If it doesn’t work for you, just delete the mod…no muss, no fuss. And no alterations to game files.
Yeah. I’m debating. Cause I know a patch is being tested right now, but nobody’s mentioned what’s in it. I think it’s more quest oriented than encounter oriented. Really don’t know though.
Encounters give the game more of a challenge I feel. Since I’m not getting any encounters really anymore the game is kind of “hum drum”. Don’t get me wrong, I love it…but I think I’m ready for more just going from point A to point B, and back to point A without any real surprises.
Random encounters was a nice surprise when the game first came out.
I think I’ll give it a shot. But I’d hate to break anything if a Patch came out. Definitely don’t want to start over again haha.
Okay…within 5 minutes of downloading this mod I had an encounter to chase down a thief in town haha. Never knew that was even available in the game WTF? Love it!
Hopefully this mod is even balanced. But I’ll update as I play.
Oh yeah! I remember chasing a thief, sometime in the first couple hours of my game. Very nice.
According to the modder who made this, there are 114 unique encounters available in KCD. Find 'em all!
Finally some Cumans on the damn road! I almost forgot how to fight jk. Again, hope its well balanced. But this is wicked exciting!
6 random encounters in 3 hours! I had only 3 in 30 hours prior to this mod. Not sure the balance, but nothing felt unusual. 3 of them were combat related and the other 3 were not.
4 of the 6 encounters with this mod were encounters I have never had before. It kind of breathes new life into the experience for me. Anyways… I hope it keeps on this way, not disrupting the immersion. But time will tell how balanced this mod is.
Today the mod author updated it and it seems to be easy to install now. Again, I’ll update as I move forward. Just hope 1.4.2 either fixes random encounters or at least doesn’t mess this mod up at all.
i guess it works then , i got it back in 1.3 and it was broken at the time. after main menu when u load into a game it would just stay black loading screen and never load. it was also a known issue on the mod page’s forums. maybe ill give it a go.
After just under 10 hours of gameplay with this mod, I must say it…it’s fantastic! I won’t spoil anything, but I’ve had at least 7 or 8 different encounter types. For all those without random encounters, I endorse this mod!
They need to hire modders lol they can at least make the game work
Random encounters aren’t broken; their frequency was reduced and more encounters were added.
I don’t disagree with you entirely. But after 50 hours unmodded with only maybe 4 random encounters…considering the game has over a couple hundred types…do you think the developers intented for players to finish the game and only see a handful of them?
If I was a developer I’d want players to experience all the types at some point during the experience. So for that…yes, I’d say random encounters while playing vanilla appears somewhat broken.
I think there’s a lot of content you aren’t meant to see in a single playthrough.
Also, I don’t know how you saw only 4 random encounters. When I removed the Roads are Dangerous mod, effectively reverting random event frequences to the default 1.4.1 values, I still see a lot more than 4 random events, whether I’m fast traveling or traveling on foot/horseback.
I’m not sure. Only 4 since 1.4.1. I had the opposite problem that most people had 1.3 I had tons of random encounters where most people said they didn’t have many.
But the mod does work. In fact I played 5 hours without a single encounter. So the balance seems to suit my needs.
I understand what you’re saying about not seeing all during a single playthrough. But I’m a sucker for seeing everything a game has to offer. I’ve played almost 100 hours of KCD. Such an unbelievable game! Love it or hate it, I really am impressed with it nonetheless. Never played a game with so many issues, but have never appreciated a game like I do this one. The two exceptions being Skyrim and RDR (loved those as well).
this mod works very well. finally you get encounters on nearly every road
using normal mod on 1.4.1
